Ok one question regarding rsnapshot arrives I set the update intervall directly with rsnapshot but it needs to

Keep-Recommends=true" and see

you may want to mention it now :-)

jelly-home: apt-get behaves itself now
jelly-home: err… apt-get behaves itself

yah, aptitude sux

that works too.

if I use it exclusively, it usually behaves better than apt-get, but sometimes it's just dumb

not dumb .. too smart for its own good

no, dumb. it also behaves differently in command line and ui.

i don't use the UI .. wouldn't know

jelly-home: this was a freshly installed etch box and I was careful to only ever use aptitude on it…

now with sid's apt-get this shouldn't be a problem anymore

i'm tring to install a pp printer on a print server, but i can't choose parallel port during the web installation. why?

you think? my problem was that I was trying to turn off auto-installing-recommends

I think there was a case, when you started the ui, things would get fixed magically with command line after that

was mentionaing the other problem where you mix both apt-get and aptitude

this can't be good …

ok, I understand

hm, if you haven't used apt at all, check in BTS for similar issues.

this was probably because aptitude treated the -R as a global flag, so all packages installed as recommends were removed (at least i think so)

oh yes, -R _is_ global. And I think the flag is remembered after you use it once
not really intuitive

there is a very old bts bug about this. but seems to be fixed too here in sid's version

yeah, I figured that must be the case given your -o test
