trying to install openttd and my user account is in the games group the users group also appears to contain the
which format does it have? fat32, ntfs, …?
thufir, as root, i suppose.
ishino, i don't remember exactly but it should be fat
missing codepage support?
ok. any other commands I should get the output of to figure out why the live cd isn't giving an ip address?
FAT: codepage cp437 not found
that's what the log says, but .. ahm .. i don't know what does it exactly mean and how to fix it
there's a "Native Language Support" section in the kernel config
got your .config somewhere?
[[thufir]]: does the network adapter show up in lspci, if yes, does it show up in ifconfig -a, if yes, can you manually config an address on it and use it, if yes, move on.
yes
Hey. Is there a linux program which can flash the motherboard bios?
add cp437 support to your kernel.
grep CONFIG_NLS_CODEPAGE_437 .config
ishino, CONFIG_NLS_CODEPAGE_437=m
ishino, it means that it's as module ?
probed the module?
yes
cassiopea, what's the mb?
ishino, yes i already probed it ..
skyunkyfone thanks
i also tried vfat / ntfs and msdos
dcrystal, pcchips A31G
and fat of course
what's the equivalent to /etc/fedora-release?
[[thufir]]: gentoo-release
/etc/gentoo-release
ishino, maybe shall i try again to compile it builded into the kernel ?
dcrystal, I downloaded the new software and the (windows) flash utility
cassiopea, i think no
I just noticed that my swap partition is *way* to small. And my boot partition is to big. Is there a way that I can make my boot partition smaller and add it to the swap partition?
doesn't make a difference
paste `lsmod` somewhere please
cassiopea, and…you haven't windows installed ?
ishino, here it is http://rafb.net/p/oj1Npg81.html
dcrystal, well, I do, but only because I have to. Anyway, I see I need to have a floppy disk. I don't have a floppy disk drive right now, so I'll need to find one first
cassiopea, and can't this utility do it from windows?
yeah, it can't…
and the codepage module is…
ishino, uhm…
dcrystal, apparently not. I've never flashed a bios before, can it be done from a system running windows?
donnow.. checking ..
no.
it can't be done from any os , as well , i think
isn't it flashed before any os is running?
cahoot, yeah, of course.
dcrystal, k, thanks, I'll be off now on a floppy-disk-drive hunt
Can the $GAMES_PREFIX_OPT be set in make.conf to force my games to be installed under '/home/myuser' instead of '/opt'?
as /opt isnt big enough to hold UT2004+Doom3+quake4+others
certainly looks like it. Try
cool
what
what's the worst that can happen hehe
firefox gets into this infuriating state where if you load a pdf you get a blank page…the only way I can see to fix it is to restart firefox
does anyone have a fix for this?
flodin, it brakes my system by burning out my GPU&CPU
take the nsplugin USE flag away from acroread, and re-emerge it. then emerge xpdf, and use xpdf to read pdfs.
i find evince to be very good for pdfs is you use gnome
ok.. I am clearly not the only person to suffer from this then
s/is/if
xpdf is openmotif stuff though, so if you want to get something not causing eye-cancer, consider gpdf, evince or something like that
at the moment I get blank pages.. so anything is better than that
bat the moment I get blank pages.. so anything is better than that /b
ubat the moment I get blank pages.. so anything is better than that /b/u
all-in-one and just works
:p
kpdf/gpdf are both just pretty frontends to xpdf
yeah, happens to me whenever acrobat reader is the pdf thing. i keep acroread installed, because occasionally i hit a pdf that xdpf chokes on.
ok thanks
ishino, sry power down ,
there is also a terrible acroread plugin bug where acroread stays running in the background using as much cpu time as it can
no worries
did anyboyd answer your question?
ishino, i return cheching that issues
parted is your friend (gparted is easier to use)
i did :p
nope
ishino, i'm having a recompiling now, includingo codepage an character set as built-in , since i use devices often it's better for me i think, back soon, sry for intermittance
thx

does anyone know how to configure samba so that windows users don't get a user/password prompt and still let other users login using their own accounts?
anyone at all?
theSmiler, dont u need to set the username/passwords on the samba server to be the same as on the clients?
[[thufir]]: you have 2 network cards in your system.
what?
theSmiler, failing that on the windows boxes check out the 'net' command
install-info: No such file or directory for /usr/share/info/bashref.info.gz
ishino, ohh-yeah
o.o
yes. the SiS, builtin NIC is the one which I use.
that 's working now, i donnow why but i did some mistake in last kernel config ^^
isn't there a default user that windows uses though?
bte, ishino thx a lot for your help
[[thufir]]: well, that's probalby your problem. do you have both eth0 and eth1 in ifconfig -a ?
theSmiler, http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/net_use.mspx?mfr=true
a simple way is to use map to guest
i feel dirty now
map to guest = bad user
then add guest = ok to the share configuration
i know what net use is, swiftjim -_-
what does map to guest do?
I don't know what you mean, skunkyfone, in that it's the live cd. I should configure eth so that…?
sorry
maps users that fail to authenticate to the guest account
pardon, I meant configure ifconfig
I'm offended by that xpdf eyecancer comment!
and that goes under global, yes?
just joking
[[thufir]]: just answer the question which I have asked you twice already. what shows up in ifconfig -a
and windows users will fail to authenticate, because windows apparently is too stupid to allow anonymous logins
well, i'm offended by the looks of xpdf
now now, that's just going to fare
*far
I would have to reboot to get back into gentoo
I can tell you what fedora shows…
[[thufir]]: why, if you have a working fedora install, are you using the livecd in the first place?
Could not construct the OMF maintainer element. - I can't compile gnome all of a sudden due to this error
[[thufir]]: fine, reboot.
still?
Yeah nothing has changed except I'm almost done recompiling all 900 programs
can you tell me what you're thinking? I'll probably take this up tomorrow or on the e-mail list.
107 packages to go
I personally recommend tmpfs compiling, with a few exceptions
db2omf is some xml file
Huh?
today is 07.07.07 - J. Bond day !
!google gentoo-wiki tmpfs
http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Speeding_up_portage_with_tmpfs
I can't compile so tempfs is useless
So wth are you on about?
I use -pipes anyway so disk isn't used
well, once you have packages compiling as normal
Sure are alot of Windoze fags in here who like Bill Gates!
that's why i gave up on kicking
doesn't work
just ban for an hour
no, you're still writing to disk (tar extraction, writing to /tmp/portage before moving the appropriate files to /bin etc)
Yes and I need a 4 GB tmp for it all
I only have 4 GB RAM can't make it all a tempfs
only for openoffice
[[thufir]]: you're probably getting the livecd finding BOTH network adapters. so either plug the cableinto the other one, or run dhcpcd against eth1
you have to know what tmpfs is first, anyhow….
Besides tmp is a NFS4 volume on a raid0 disk over a 1 GB network and I distcc compile
I know what it is
I started with fedora linux 14 years ago. :p
with redhat?
Red Hat wasn't invented yet
why would anyone still be on irc if they started with linux 14 years ago
I'm not quite 0.02 I was a few months late for that
actually.. that's not quite right
version 1.0 of redhat came out in 1994.. but I think there were 0.x versions before that
or maybe it was slackware only before that.. blimey I can't remember
I did it my self and Slackware.
which country?
I ask as you started at exactly the same time as me
What do I have to do before I can repartition my swap partition?
you want it bigger or smaller?
Denmark.
ive installed gentoo , but i don't see it in my applications bar =/
i mean pidgin
lol
smaller
ah ok
3.8 GB sound a bit 2 much with 512 MB ram
what do you want to do with the remaining space? Basically the answer is boot off a cd that has qparted in any case
h0ax-Linux: open a console and type: pidgin enter
*fg*
it is harmless unless you need the space for something else?
hmm, true
repartitioning is always a bit dodgy so if you can avoid it, do
ok
error while loading shared libraries: libpurple.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
thx
h0ax-Linux: revdep-rebuild?
np.. I think qparted might be out of date anyway maybe it is all gparted now
unknown command
h0ax-Linux: emerge gentoolkit
gparted as had a major overhaul as well
sec
But to fast forward to current day, I wonder what I'm doing to break gnome compiles. Does it use java?
right
rafb.net pastebin it
revdep works now
Pastebin what?
ty
the error log
I quoted the 1 line error already, it's not something complicated, it fails to read some maintainer variable in the documentation
or in the locale translation is prolly more correct.
another question , how do i mount my other half of my H/D , that has windows on
hoax-linux: mount /dev/sda1 -t ntfs /windows
Ïðèâ³ò ñâ³ò
…. hello world
kaotix, thanks
of course it must be your partition hda3 or whatever and if its vfat change ntfs for vfat
hello, I have a problem with my system whenever it initiates I must modify my resolv.conf
ZxR, you can tell dhcpcd not to rewrite it
dhcpcd should do that for you
or not do it
trying to install openttd and my user account is in the "games" group… the "users" group also appears to contain the "games" user - /usr/games/bin has rwxr-x— and is chown'd as root:games, yet I can't access the folder even though my user is in the games group - any ideas?
logged out and logged in again?
ZxR, unless you have the knetworkmanager script…that will do it's own thing too…I had to get rid of that from services to keep my resolv.conf from being overwritten
nope, will try it, thanks
virdiq, you have to…it will work afterwards
hey, guys , any idea why my default display mode became 2048 x 768, even though my lap's LCD can only do 1024 x 768 ?
xorg.conf did not change
im really puzzled here
it works, thanks… (su'd as my user again)
it is that if use dhcpcd when it initiates my system later then if I modify my resolv.conf gnome does not start
so X starts, and everything looks very streched
stretched
Sure are alot of Windoze fags in here who like Bill Gates!
lol
why bother
Sure are alot of Windoze fags in here who like Bill Gates!
is this the only channel which has idiots flooding it, or does this happen in other Freenode channels?
you should see #politics
no ops there
omfg
is it possible to create additional sections for manpages (other than the usual numerical 1-9)?and is it possible to use ascii characters for those?
and opless #politics was a deliberate decision though
otherwise it'd be like a moderated #freedomofspeech
just pondering there?
back on topic, tuxick
tuxick, I'm trying to find out whether it's possible to put manpages into a section called 'foo'
doubt it, but would have to check for that
configure
if you're lucky it takes a character
but a string is another thing
#politics doesn't look all that appealing… even after sitting there for 1min

I have an ugly issue with my network cards
I set my ethernet card ip address statically, and so my wireless
Is Naamah using automated scripts to kick/ban? Do any such things exist in this channel?
but even though my wired is not connected. it gets prefered by system
Naamah is a bot.

the bot kicks everyone who is affected by a ban

I need help, i have almost finished to configure my gentoo
following the handbook?
i start X with startx with nvidia drivers glx in 1280×1024 mode. My mouse is working but i don't see the mouse cursor
Mahmoud you msy not set two interfaces in the same subnet at the same time
uMahmoud you msy not set two interfaces in the same subnet at the same time/u
why?
this depends on network design.. with windows, it happens perfectly
The hell it does
Mahmoud, When both interfaces are 'up' look in your route -n only the first matching rule will be applied
this is the stupid part
enable the software cursor in your xorg.conf
gentoo shoud check that eth0 is unplugged
Putting two interfaces on the same subnet is a recipe for disaster
as of late my x-server regularly uses too much cpu. e.g. hardly drops below 30% with minutes of 90% use constantly.
No Mahmoud, it shouldn't.
tuxick, doesn't work here
You haven't told it to.
any hints on how to investigate?
gentoo will, if you have properly configured your conf.d/net
win 3
i see =]
i don't know how to do this, i used xorgcfg i did not see that
you have to edit the config file yourself.
do u have any keywords that i can use on google
yes but i don't know what to type
the reason both network adapters are in the same network, is that it's a home network + I need both networks to be in the same broadcast segment. since some protocols really need it
Mahmoud, You run run fallback or bonding. Fallback brings up one interface at a time. Bonding gives both phyisical interfaces a single logical interface, which gets one IP
man nvidia or nv or whatever. SwCursor is what you're looking for.
hmm bonding seems the best for me
since when did gentoo think for itself, what kernel are you using mahmoud?? i want that version
Mahmoud There are various flavours of bond too
in other words, you're too lazy to design your network properly, and you want your OS to compensate for it.
gentoo-skynet-sources-2.6.22
how can watch quicktime clips with firefox? beside mplayerplug-in
man, it's a home network. why would both networks be separated if I need them to be in the same broadcast segment?
Mahmoud You need kernel support and to read /etc/conf.d/net.example to see how to configure a bond
you don't NEED anything of the sort. you WANT it that way because it's less work to web design the network.
oh and you want me to do broadcast relay on my router?
it will be messy if I tweaked my network so that two different IP networks recieve each other's broadcasts
tuxick, seems like section names have to start with a number, eg '2sys' works
damn it. all what I needed is to shut down eth0 if the cable is unplugged..
at least, not include it in the routing table
what is the -mmmx cflag for?
That's what fallback is for, I think
a basic function of any router is to not include an interface in the routing table IF the cable is not plugged
i'm reading about it now
as you were told, several times, gentoo will GLADLY do that for you, IF you bother to read /etc/conf.d/net.example and configure it as such.
heh
this should be the default behaviour
no.
i added SWCursor "true" that did not help
how can watch quicktime clips with firefox? beside mplayerplug-in
i tryed "HWCursor" "true" still no mouse cursor
i wanna watch live earth
whats the emerge command for KDE ?
did you add it to the right place? did you shut down and restart?
h0ax-Linux: emerge kde
h0ax-Linux: The recommended method is "emerge kde-meta", altho there's also "emerge kde" if you prefer the monolithic packages
i added it into mouse section i looked on web i see it on device section
fallback works if the previously method of IP assignment failed?
such as, when using DHCP
which is easiest?
so, you added it to the wrong section.
please dont recommend emerge kde for people… kde-meta
but my case is that I'm assigning the IP statically to that interface. How can fallback work then?
h0ax-Linux: both the same easyness, but youll have easier time upgrading with kde-meta
h0ax-Linux: There's not too much difference. The -meta packages allow for quicker updates and the monolithic packages are, afaik, scheduled to be removed with KDE 4
so emerge kde-meta
and quicker
yes
ty
hmm, anyone know if the LiveCD's support NTFS?
hi
is ndiswrapper available on gentoo ?
At best host they'll only have the inkernel support, which basically means only readonly support
i have a 15' Powerbook G4 1.6Ghz, do you know any handbook so that i can install gentoo? thanks
h0ax-Linux: Yes - the ndiswrapper package provides it
that's all I need, was wondering if it did have the kernel module/have ntfs support compiled in the kernel
is it emerge ndiswrapper ?
h0ax-Linux: Yes
ty
doesn't fallback work if the static ip hosting assignment failed?
h0ax-Linux: Tip: The "eix" utility, in the package of the same name, will allow you to quickly search for packages. Once installed with "emerge eix", run "eix –help" for usage information.
Mahmoud Look at ifplug and bonding
ok, seems ifplug what i need
please is it possible to install gentoo in powerbook?
should be, havn't tried it myself though
It should be, yes
Myz, What CPU PPC of some sort ? if so yes
G4 1.6Ghz 512Mo
AllenJB, ty
Myz, That should be ok. You need a PPC liveCD and follow the PPC handbook
NeddySeagoon, thanks you, can you give me the link to download the livecd if you can thanks
Myz one sec
how can i watch the Live Eearth with firefox-bin??
I cant compile mplayerplug-in
help plz
Myz, This link http://bouncer.gentoo.org/fetch/gentoo-2007.0-packagecd/ppc-g4/ even has G4 in its name
hey, is it possible to mount a file as a filesystem? (e.g. the way you can mount an iso, except writeable as well?)
Myz, Tha looks wrong!
you'll have to be more elaborate than that describing the problem if you want help, *why* can't you compile mplayerplig-in?
which plugin would that be? I'm trying to get that to work to, it did work some time ago, but now it moans about no quicktime being installed
Yes, as long the file has usable fs.
NeddySeagoon, thank you it's working !
Yes - you need loopback support in your kernel to do it
cuz it needs both firefox and mplayer (not -bin)
ok, what commands or options should i be looking at?
i have firefox-bin and mplayer-bin
myz http://bouncer.gentoo.org/fetch/gentoo-2007.0-minimal/ppc/ is for 32 bit PPC and http://bouncer.gentoo.org/fetch/gentoo-2007.0-universal/ppc64/ is for 64 bit PCC. I don't know what a G4 is
are you on a 64bit system?
i need to watch quicktime clips
yes
why dont you just download the firefox source and compile hosting it, you dont need emerge for everything
Myz, The first link I gave was for Packages - you may want that one later - its not a liveCD. See ^^
it's 40 mb
and then also mplayer i need to compile
and your point is?
by the time he compiles firefox from source, poverty will already be history
i dont wanna spend hours compiling to watch some clips
LOL
lol
dd if=/dev/zero of=somefile bs=1M count=512; mkfs.ext3 somefile; mount -o loop somefile /some/mount/point
thx Stonefish
NeddySeagoon, so it's not a problem if i use just the first link you gave me?
kaotix you know how to get quicktime in firefox to work ?
i'll just start virtualbox and use IE to watch it…
hmm sorry i have two 3Ghz cpu's i forgey others take awhile to compile
i mean, the two links are just optional?
i know there is a howto somewhere but i can't find it anymore
is there a way to make it resize the file on demand?
ifplug is neat..
it works perfectly with zero configurations
Myz, You need one of the second links. The first link contains binary packages. The first link is optional. You need one of the second links
Mahmoud, good
kaotix ?
Myz, The first link is not bootable
ok thanks
Not that I know of. You can manually resize the file and fs in it, as long the fs supports resizing.
install videodownloader extension on firefox
thx i'll try that
you get to keep the video as well that way
nice
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390
ok, thanks for your help!
Hello all. I was curious about something. But does anyone here know if there is a way through Gentoo itself, that I could figure out how much power each of my machines uses from our house-hold wall?
i get to this point: http://entimg.msn.com/i/LiveEarth/landingpage/altplayer/q.html
I click Japan…
Keith-BlindUser: not directly, you'd need a tool to measure the power used
and it still says quicktime is needed
Keith-BlindUser: I think you need a hardware solution
Keith-BlindUser: and with tool I mean a "black box" you attach to the power plug
slacker:NOO
?
slacker:go here and click INSTALL
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2390
i installed it
but it doesnt download anything…
can you try?
http://entimg.msn.com/i/LiveEarth/landingpage/altplayer/q.html
http://liveearth.msn.com/
Keith-BlindUser: something like a Electric Energy Usage Meter
i guess stupid msn protection…
japan?
yea
http://entimg.msn.com/i/LiveEarth/player/altplayer/q.html?StreamName=Japan.smi
You could try with this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446
tmr tried that too
it finds 2 links
but neither realplayer or vlc can read them
hehe

that's an interesting one

do you have a /usr/src/linux symlink to your current kernel sources?
a what? lol
do you have /usr/src/linux at all?
2 tics
ls -l /usr/src
yea
i do
I was wondering something.
I have had some emerge commands, "Emerge -E system" spisifically, break my computer, to a point that it all must be whiped out and reinstalled all over. I am trying to decide..what is the best way to update the entire system without breaking it at all?
wow thats a cool error h0ax-Linux
h0ax-Linux, 1.33 isn't even in portage any more, you should maybe do emerge –sync and try again
isit lol
is it a hoax :p
im a special case lol
I cannot aford any reinstallations at this time..people depend on my box being up and online, and my system has not received an update to compilers or anything for a long while..nearly a month or better.
Keith-BlindUser: how exactly does your system break?
rysncing
Keith-BlindUser: emerge -e is not for system upgrades as such, it reinstalls -everything- by pretending that nothing is installed
you type very well for a blind person
emerge -u only upgrades packages that need upgrading
Keith-BlindUser: "emerge -e system" on its own shouldn't break your system. Did you make any other changes at the same time?
Suddenly pam spits out errors on login…wget breaks to the point that it ddoesn't eaven work..and other things….Wich has led me to stay away from emerge -e system.
lsmooth, after i re sync shall i try again ?
h0ax-Linux, yep
as AllenJB said, there must be more to it than that
Keith-BlindUser: have you run etc-update and revdep-rebuild?
No.
lsmooth, ty
emerge -e system shouldn't on its own destroy your system, but it will cause everything to be recompiled
start there, and you might be able to recover it somewhat
Tommy`: it can if an important soname is changed halfway through the process
well yes
Okay.
What happens if I run etc-update nad run -5? to automerge all files? The last time I had the broken pam and stuff,
I forgot to replace 20 or more files..I probably should have automerged. BC next thing I new, I'd only replaced one…and oops
you should _never_ automerge unless you are _100%_ sure of which files it is overwriting
Your saying an automerge could break my box ..
yes
well, in the past, /etc/fstab could be overwritten by etc-update
when you re-emerge a package, it brings with it default config files and other files that sit in /etc and places
it will, unless you go through ALL your configuration files after the automerge
it won't overwrite files in /etc unless you tell it to, because you need to set those files to your needs
if you emerge -e system and then automerge config files, you'll reduce your box to a base installation
and lose all your config files for everythign you've installed
it'd be a bit messy
well, no, lose config files for anything in the system set
but that's still everything you need to run your system
What the heck?
Keith-BlindUser: dispatch-conf is less dangerous than etc-update. it does better than etc-update at deciding what to call a trivial change.
what's the latest -stable- kernel?
It also creates backups
Tommy`: 2.6.21 ?
Tommy`: www.kernel.org
I can't be bothered to check, my gentoo box is dead
k
.6 even
How accessible is dispatch conf to someone who cannot see the screen? I cannot….and have made horrible changes with etc-update in the passed… If the too is not simple to use…then
Keith-BlindUser: probably installing the linux-headers-2.6.17 and that's fine
Why would it be installing them? That makes no sense.
I masked out 2.6.20 in /etc/portage/pacakage.mask.
Keith-BlindUser: kernel headers are different to the kernel
BC I will not, have poortage update my kernel from underneath me. Genkernel was installed when I installed Gentoo..so it'd compile the sources, etc.
My last kernel upgrade resulted in someone having to log into a CD and basically took over an hour to repair.
Keith-BlindUser: it's no worse than etc-update, tho I coulnd't tell you if it was any better. at least with dispatch-conf, if you find you've let it use a new config file and you shouldn't have, the old one got backed up.
We nearly didn't recover the box.
Keith-BlindUser: portage won't change your kernel ever, the most it can do is grab new sources
whether or not you build a kernel with them is up to you
Well I've prevented that.
IT won't be able to do that anyways.. Especially sinse there is a sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.20-r8 line or something..
well all that will do is prevent it from grabbing anything more recent that 2.6.20-r8
Yep
if your issue is that you don't want portage to grab new sources when you emerge -u world or some such
then you can remove the package atom from the world file and it never will
I tend to work like that, to ensure the most recent sources I have correspond to the kernel I'm running
Tommy`: That's a bad way of dealing with it when you can just use package.mask
I suppose, but it means I never have to worry about it
So what does emerge -e system do exactly?
Tommy`: Additionally for kernel sources you'll find you have to add a package.provided entry anyway using your method because packages containing kernel module depend on the kernel sources
hrm?
never seen that need o.O
I don't remove it from portage's db
just from the world file
Keith-BlindUser: "system" is basically the essential packages for a runnign system - what's provided by a stage 3 tarball. The "-e" parameter pretends nothing is installed on your system, so it essentially reinstalls all of the "system" set of packages
portage always knows which sources are installed, it just never grabs new ones on an emerge -u world
Ah..
What if you ran one..then didn't mean to do it?
AllenJB, Tommy`it was me helping Keith-BlindUser the other day
And attempted to cancel it?
Tommy`: But then you have to deal with it in –depclean, unless you do have packages which depend on it anyway, in which case it'll still get upgraded
well since I avoid –depclean, that issue hasn't arisen
Is there a snappier way to get the use flags of something besides emerge -pv package
and I keep an eye on what gets installed on big upgrades anyway
Not that I know of
as far as I was aware, the world file has no effect on anything other than a specific call to emerge world
bas far as I was aware, the world file has no effect on anything other than a specific call to emerge world/b
it should be a rather simple matter to compute them. No need for dependencies and all
is a different way
dep -u package
as it's just listed as a package set, one of the four ways of specifying packages in portage commands
with the benefit of explaining the USE flags while showing them
If you ran an emerge -e system for example, and were half way through and canceled it, could you undo the changes?
Keith-BlindUser: Not easily
BC I just canceled one..I think it was half way through downloading kernel headers..I have no way of telling you if I've now perhaps brokent he sytem.
nice.. is there a condensed version? (I'm trying to cut and paste my use flags into another system)
Keith-BlindUser: It's usually not necessary to run "emerge -e system". If you just want to upgrade packages you should use -u instead of -e
Oops
oh crap
Well I just ran -e system..can I reverse it?
I canceled it.
control-c it.
a half emerge -e system shouldn't break anything
Keith-BlindUser: there's no need to reverse it (usually)
Keith-BlindUser: No, you can't reverse it. You may be able to resume it with "emerge –resume -a"
Well
How do I keep emerge from ever resuming it?
It will wish to if I run emerge –resume without ever rebooting…and I do not diar reboot..
portage won't resume it by itself
BC I do not know the conciquences of what I have just done by canceling it.
portage will do what is neccessary and emerge -e system is not neccessary. so you don't need to do anything
Keith-BlindUser: make sure to run etc-update, just in case, then relax…no harm done
Shour I emerge –resume it and let it go eaven if my system has broken? It has in the passed on my boxes.
Keith-BlindUser: You should be able to fix most potential problems by updating config files with dispatch-conf (or etc-update) and then running "revdep-rebuild"
with the -e system spisifically.
your system is probably not broken
the system is down.
Keith-BlindUser running emerge -e system and/or canceling it should be harmless
I ran etc-update
It said,
"Scanning configuration files. Existing..nothing left to do." But how can I trust it?
Emerge will still wish to resume..How do I instruct protae otherwise?
porage
why are you so distrusting of your system. How is it broken?
Keith-BlindUser you may get a new udev and udev rules. The rules will be in etc-update … that will be difficult for you
Keith-BlindUser: Because it's good at what it does. If it says there are no config files to update, then there's nothing to update
It'll resume the most previous command..
it resumes because YOU tell it to do so. portage does not wish to do anything
It's over 8 gb..holy crap
(at least i know of nothing else)
Keith-BlindUser its safe to delete the content of /usr/portage/distfiles
plus, there's no need to c&p USE flags to another system
Okay..what's the easyest way to do this/ I want no scripts..I want a hard rm -rf way.
/etc/make.conf and /etc/portage/package.use is all you need to copy
Keith-BlindUser rm /usr/portage/distfiles/*
I don't want to do that. I want only this package to be identical. in other respects the two machines are completely different
As long as it actually works..I don't care..as long as the instructon does not damnage my /root folder. I once attempted to use wildcards. And I attmepted to remove all files on my hard-drive beginning with .tar.gz, and .txt. Well
hey does anyone know why in OpenOffice when I type I can't get accented characters like this í á é ó ú
I ran rm -rf * * .tar.gz.
Well
ok
It blasted my website, and all directorys in my root-s home directory. And I could never recover them. And i'm now reconstructing a site that it took me 6 years to write.
what do you get? if you get two characters you probably don't want the nodeadkeys variant in your xorg.conf
Keith-BlindUser, Thats what backups are for
No backups exists..ther permanently gone thanks to that rm -rf * * .tar.gz.
no I don't get anything, and it works fine everywhere else
then sorry, no idea
I think perhaps I left something out of the Openoffice build a flag of some sort perahps.
uI think perhaps I left something out of the Openoffice build a flag of some sort perahps./u
Keith-BlindUser: you should NEVER need -f with rm. if you do, you're doing something wrong.
Give me a way wwith whildcards if you can on deleting every singl file in /usr/portage/distfiles…including any hiddin ones…I've noticed those hardly get rearsed.
Keith-BlindUser rm /usr/portage/distfiles/*
I use it when deleting stuff that's read-only
erased..then I must manualy slowly whipe all . directorys.
Keith-BlindUser That will leave the CVD dir behind, which is small
like I said, you're doing something wrong.
anyone have any ideas why I can't get í é á type characters in openoffice?
CVS?
I'm not doing anything wrong.
Keith-BlindUser There will only be one dir - leave it - its small
SkunkyFone, yes … CVS
any open office users here?
NeddySeagoon:
Keith-BlindUser: how does IRC work for a blind user? Is it spoken?
What if you ran rm -rf /usr/portage/distfiles/?
Yeah.
Can Gentoo be modified to use stow or encap somehow?
is your LINGUAS set properly?
Keith-BlindUser: no you need to replace the ? with a *
And #Gentoo sometimes gets so overwelming that I will insist on query wineows with spisific channel operators in here, etc.
What do stow or encap do?
Keith-BlindUser that will remove the dir ../distfiles too and you will need the -rf options too. I was trying to avoid them
Keith-BlindUser: do NOT use -f with rm. -f means "force", if you have to tell rm to force something, you really wanna know about it first.
this time I added the LINGUAS es_ES and put it in my make.config file
I can miss messages directed at me along with all the other messages very easily..I often do..making querys a necessary thing..it's hard to talk to you etc..with SkunkyFone sending messages…etc.
ok
does it show properly when doing emerge -pv openoffice
Constantly flooding my synth..and I can't scrol quickly e nough..etc.
let me double check but I'm pretty sure it does
Keith-BlindUser: yeah, I was thinking it has to be pretty nuts. is the voice sped up at all?
Stow or encap would do this, when installing the resulting binaries from a source package: Install everything into /usr/stow/somedirectory-1.2.3-beta. This way, under /usr/stow/somedirectory-1.2.3-beta, there would be a bin, etc, and all those types of directories. Stow would then link that
directory over to standard /usr/bin, but only in symlinks.
Yep
But that won't solve the problem I just explained.
This way package management is intrinsic to the filesystem.
N o sooner do I scroll and I'm slammed to the boottum when something new happens.
anyone here have patches for macro-foo in libtool-1.5.24?
buttom
Happens all the time.
Me too.
Keith-BlindUser: I wonder if there's a way to make the reader only read you things that have your nick in them. like, any message that would highlight, and make it ignore the rest of them.
This channel..is fine..if I have a question that is simple to answer. But if it's more..then I normaly insist on open querys.
You might want to look at archlinux. The only way I believe you could achieve this with Gentoo is to go through and create a custom version of every package (ebuild) file
Keith-BlindUser, can't you use a positive filter, when you have struck up a conversation ?
it doesn't look like it is in the list at all, I do see a -es
I don't eaven know what your talking about..so..
you didn't set it properly
spammers must be particularly annoying
Personally I think that sort of system is pointless when you've got a proper package manager managing everything for you
Keith-BlindUser e.g. filter on NeddySeagoon so you only get your messages and mine. Like the inverse of /ignore
ahh, let me check my make.cofing
not sure if this solves your issues though, but i guess it might be part of it
I'm thinking it must that is why I recompiled it, wow, long recompile times though about 4-5 hours for openoffice.
i have resynced and have the same error with ndiswrapper , !!! Unable to calculate Linux Kernel version
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
!!! A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/net-wireless/ndiswrapper-1.33/temp/build.log'.
What is this "motd-o-matic" thing on the rsync server? I see that all the time…
4-5 hours is short. that's why tere's openoffice-bin
did it ever work, just to make sure you don't waste your time
if unsure, try -bin first and see if it helps
Keith-BlindUser, its a Message Of The Day telling you about the server
LOL I never emerge small things..I grab it all. Emerged a full gnome and open off ice at the same time on one ccommand line..tookf forever.
I used the CHOST () recommended here for my processor (P4M) http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags — Now I am doing emerge -e system to take advantage of the make.conf settings and I run into this error:
/var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/busybox-1.6.0/work/busybox-1.6.0/scripts/gcc-version.sh: line 11: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: command not found
I thought I was on dial-up.
no, not in Gentoo, what is odd is that I changed my keyboard setup and it works everywhere else, but not in OpenOffice.
heh
did you -change- your CHOST?
h0ax-Linux Your /usr/src/linux link is missing, or you have no kernel sources
Hi. Could someone tell me how to configure an USB-Stick at /etc/fstab? atm, I'm getting an Error while mounting. My fstab-entry: /dev/sdb /mnt/sdb2 vfat users 0 0 thanks.
you mean just emerege -av openoffice-bin
tommy` only in make.conf, is there more?
bah
When changing your CHOST you need to follow http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/change-chost.xml
NeddySeagoon, what can i do about it ?
yes, set LINUGAS properly and emerge it, then see if it actually works
hi gentoo community
thank you allenjb
Changing the CHOST is NOT trivial, and generally something that should be avoided
I will read that
h0ax-Linux, What do you have in /usr/src ?
you're not meant to change your CHOST at all, and if you end up doing so, follow the link above
here is my current line in make.conf : file:///home/shane/data/wine-0.9.40.tar.bz2
NeddySeagoon, the secure linux web hosting file is there
h0ax-Linux ls /usr/src
if it does, you can always go back to compile it with the proper settings
someone knows where I can find the baselayout net.lo related scripts ?
that wasn't right, here it is: LINGUAS="es_ES en_US en_EN"
i doubt this directory is accessible to me
NeddySeagoon:
h0ax-Linux What does it point to ? ls -l /usr/src
lol
NeddySeagoon, localhost ~ # ls /usr/src
linux linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r5
/etc/init.d/net.lo etc?
yep
If I remove /usr/portage/distfiles completely… by forcing it..like with -rf.. will it get recreated if I emerge again? Or not.
right there
My CHOST was i386, I thought i686-pc-linux-gnu would be more optimal
i only see "es" as a valid setting for LINGUAS
well I mean, on svn ?
in which case you needed to download the i686 stage3
rather than the x86 one
h0ax-Linux that looks ok. What does uname -r show
ok, so I don't need the es_ES stuff, just es
think so
NeddySeagoon, 2.6.19-gentoo-r5
ok, I will leave them since they can't hurt anything, and add the es
follow the link AllenJB gave and you can probably fix your system
let me explain my problem :
thank you
that'll work as well
"equery f baselayout" (from the gentoolkit package) shows them to be in /lib(64)/rcscripts/ - You shouldn't need to touch these files. What do you want to do?
I have started on it
h0ax-Linux thats good too. Did you compile your own kernel, or use the binary one from the install CD ?
i used the live cd
Keith-BlindUser: yes, it only contains downloaded packages
I would like to understand how it works ; it's the third time I mess up my network config on a server
You did? Then you have a genkernel..
and the sad point is that nobody can access it right now for about 2 months :'(
Keith-BlindUser: files go there every time a package is emerged.
especially the STRICT_NET check
I found genkernel compiles way too much..it's much better to manually compile your modules etc.
The Gentoo Handbook and /etc/conf.d/net contain all the information users should need to know about setting up network scripts
mmh yes I read everything
Keith-BlindUser: if you want to keep it clean, a nightly cron job or something might be the ticket. Just make sure it doesn't happen at the same time you are emerging something
and I know pretty much how it works
h0ax-Linux, you must build your own kernel, so that other modules can be build for it
Not let genkernel do it..you cannot control what genkernel will compile..or how mhch..generaly resulting in an severely bloated kernel.
but now I'm touching the limit of the config
h0ax-Linux There are insttructions in the handbook
and I need to understand exactely what happens behind
Mine had over 100 drivers that made my box unstable because genkernel was loading them on boot… and there were not ment for my box.
NeddySeagoon, i aint had problems with anything else =/
they
Keith-BlindUser: consider using eclean-dist, it only removes obsolete files from it and keeps what you'd need to rebuild your current system
h0ax-Linux, What other 3rd party kernel modules do you use ?
hit a snag: http://rafb.net/p/KBP21×38.html
NeddySeagoon, what you mean
2 packages are blocking openoffice-bin
so is there a svn repository where to grab all network modules scripts ? and the main net.lo ?
you either have the compiled openoffice or your don't (bin)
you'd have to unmerge openoffice first
h0ax-Linux, ndiswrapper is a kernel module - it needs to find a properly configured kernel to build against. Other popular ones are nvidia-drivers, ati-drivers, dmraid … they all provide kernel modules
ok, what is the difference between openoffice and openoffice-bin ?
-bin is a precompiled binary
NeddySeagoon, i hav'nt installed anything else like this just , pidgin
so the bin is not the full blown thing?
should I go to the gentoo-dev chan ?
ok, so it is mostly already put together?
bin stands for binary - no compilation, just copying files across
h0ax-Linux, You need to compile hosting a kernel and run it, so that ndiswrapper can build against your kernel
=/
h0ax-Linux You can use a default genkernel kernel by the sound of it
ahhhh, ok, that is sounding like what I want, a whole lot less time to get it running
Can i ask why glibc builds an x86 version even on amd64?
NeddySeagoon, can i do this with emerge ?
seriously, there isn't a big speed difference - most people choose openoffice-bin
Ok, I noticed the warning about unemergeing files leaves dependencies, am I safe to just unmerge openoffice
hmmm?
h0ax-Linux That will get you the same kernel as you got from the liveCD but with the sources that ndiswrapper needs too
so that 32-bit apps will run
kk
since gentoo amd64 is by default multilib
so I'm still in for about 4 hours of getting it running?
do i want to use the build option?
h0ax-Linux follow the instructions in the handbook … I'lll get you a link
no, 5 minutes
NeddySeagoon, ty
no, do not set the build USE flag
well i cant even set the multilib flag on glibc
that is a big diff! took me about 5 hours to recompile it yesterday! If I can have it in 5 min that is great!
h0ax-Linux, http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=7 is for 32 bit, 64 bit is very similar
yes, it's forced on by your profile unless you're using a no-multilib profile
ah, kk
h0ax-Linux, you may use either method
thanks
that's over there http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/baselayout/tags/baselayout-1.12.9/net-scripts/ ^^
btw, is ooo 64-safe by now?
(… save)
spat openoffice-bin says 1 minute 30 seconds on my machine
*splat
course it will take me at least a 40 minutes to download it, 120MB
just make sure LINGUAS fits this time, you'll get the wrong one (i guess) if it doesn't
hm. i'm trying to do an eix-sync but I get this, 3 times in a row now: * Problems running time emerge –sync , where can I get more details? my rsync server is set to the big north american pool.
you are more likely to have 64 bit issues with the binary of course
yeah, I updated my make.conf with es and en to make sure
just try emerge –sync
I don't have a 64 bit machine
but how to checkout from gentoo svn ? it seems it's reserved to developers only ?
just if you did
if i have followed the utf-8 guide, and i type ls in a directory that contains filenames with accents, should i see question marks?
ok thanks! here is my system /sysinfo
er no
eix-sync -v … then you'll see emerge's output
is there a way to see the encoding of filenames?
Linux 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 running KDE 3.5.5, CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz at 3000 MHz (5994 bogomips), HD: 34/65GB, RAM: 481/490MB, 83 proc's, 9.59h up
locale -a
aah, I had PKGDIR="${PORTDIR}/packages in make.conf (missing the trailing quote), the very next line was SYNC
thanks
hi - how can i switch my ath wlan card (master mode) from 54m to 11m? iwconfig rate does change the output of iwconfig, but not the connection. Iwpriv gives me an ioctl error.
luci^NFS-V: 54m is that 54Mbps ?
aye
luci^NFS-V: would have thought that would be Access Point dependent eg. 801.1b or g
the card (master mode) is my ap
luci^NFS-V: oh i see
I want embeded ogg media in firefox to have controls… I think I am currently using the vlc nsplugin… any suggestions?
C, en_US.utf8, POSIX
hey
r u here?
locale output sensible? check that you are loading the appropriate font directories/fonts in your xorg.conf
the problems comes from mp3 files encoded with abcde - maybe abcde does not encode the filenames properly?
what plugin would you suggest for ogg in firefox?
possibly
do they still play correctly?
yea
audacious reads the tags perfectly too
i think that was the problem; i am using convmv to fix the files
and it works
does anyone know were and how i can get themes ?
h0ax-Linux: themes for what?
BlueG, Gnome
Hello
do someone know what happend with the openoffice-ximian package?
er..gone
why? some special reson?
there never has been one since ooo went 2.x
friendly12345*
no idea, you might be able to find an old ebuild in the archives somewhere, the link escapes me at the moment
friendly12345, you know how and were i can install Gnome themes ?
I want to install Gentoo to a x86 PC with the Installer. Which CD should I choose?
aa ok… and what of the two is better?
h0ax-Linux: http://art.gnome.org/
h0ax-Linux: eix gnome-themes returns two matches
h0ax-Linux: http://gnome-look.org/
? … ximian doesn't exist anymore, as you found out
h0ax-Linux: you might try the official packages friendly12345 mentioned
thanks guys
ZeiP, gentoo-2007.0-livecd for x86/i686
h0ax-Linux: eix is your friend for these kind of questions
why eix emerge -s does ot
I get an issue when building hal
It says "pciutils must be built without the zlib USE flag"
yes.. I mean the novel edition or the sun edition
and I have built it without that
friendly12345, i have done that eix , how do i install those packages
DjMadness, thanks.
so set it and re-emerge it
emerge -s takes centuries, hence no-one uses it even for simple queries. Hence eix.
I removed zlib from make.conf
and then re-emerged it
i have no idea. i only emerge what portage offers, usually
h0ax-Linux: um eix is a replacement for emerge -s
and still it says the same thing
ZeiP, your welcome
so eix gnome-themes-extras
?
emerge -s gnome | grep theme that easy and take no as long as an eye blink
is there another dependency that calls zlib anyway?
h0ax-Linux's way would be a lot faster actually
equery d zlib
wrong, only because you've already run emerge -s recently
Fieldy, ?
what?
thanks mijenix
what package has equery?
gentookit
gentoolkit
naa too slow
if emerge -s is 'quick' for you, you're seeing the results of caching
ahh okey but emerge -s isn't slow for me even it does no caching
you may also want portage-utils for some equivalent but much quicker tools
me too but I was looking how to emerge openoffise and configure it and see the novel edition
so you're saying on a reboot, running emerge -s is 'quick'?
are there some how to configure OO to emerge it?
no idea. i didn't even know about a novell version
for me, yes
I meen, I whant OO base that is not in the bin package
what hard disk configuration?
flash drive?
more than on
e
how many RPMs
pata 7200 and sata 5400
in RAID-0 ?
can you see what the error message is telling you to do?
anyone recommend a method to thoroughly test gcc? re-emerge with USE="bootstrap" enabled?
no RAID
don't USE=bootstrap!
yes, i tried to set -zlib in sys-apps/pciutils and in sys-apps/hal and even in make.conf. doesn't work.
I find it hard to believe emerge -s is quick, under any configuration. I'm pretty sure you're reading cached results.
FEATURES="test" emerge –oneshot gcc
rebuild pciutils, then try emerging gdm/pidgin again
ahh nice tyvm mark_alec
what is fast? that's a definition thing
but I know that eix is faster
less than 5 seconds
with the -zlib USE flag? "emerge pciutils"?
yes, once you have added it to package.use `emerge –oneshot pciutils`
then emerge -s isn't fast
thanks, i try it.
hey how can I emerge openoffice with the openoffice base?
i'm not really sure what you mean?
shouldn't it be there by default?
but pacman -Ss package is fast
Its is a part of OpenOffice like the Writer or Calc where you can work with DataBases
Something like MS Acess
i have it installed, as part of openoffice-bin
I havent?
sorry mark_alec I have it… I didnt realice that sorry
It was not in my menues, so I realiced that =S
hehe, no worries
high-rez, firefox is really slow on xorg 7.2 with EXA acceleration, any solutions?
*hi
does disabling exa help?
sure it's not a cairo issue?
mark_alec, yes, XAA works
or pango?
hi everyone!
friendly12345, well, using xaa works, but i don't know
have you checked on bugs.freedesktop.org that it isn't a bug in your video driver, as i know EXA is often buggy
mark_alec, no i havent, i will
people I want to install gentoo on computer which doesn't have internet connection. Is it possible? maybe there is some site which I can mirror to get all packages?
it is possible, but difficult
mark_alec, how do I do that?
will you be able to use the internet to download files elsewhere?
yes
install from the livecd, performing a networkless installation
then you will need to copy across the snapshot the tree to a usbkey or similar, and extract it to your gentoo box
to see what files it will download, download them and copy to /usr/portage/distfiles
mark_alec, thnx a lot went downloading
anyone had any trouble with emerging pdfkit?
how to use PTP protocol? I mean, not using some software, but mounting as a driver?
try searching http://bugs.gentoo.org/
thanks Fieldy
syncing atm, might work
hi
how to use PTP protocol? I mean, not using some software, but mounting as a drive?
RPC: Program not registered
when i try to mount nfs
why?
ive started portmap
Doe!
Heya, I am using an overlay that requires files from the actual package in /usr/portage but when I copy them over, it sais they're not listed in the manifest. What do I do?
What is an $EPATCH_SOURCE ?
do you have a link to the ebuild?
Nevermind, I forgot to digest after adding the files
Thanks though!
how many kW/h does a PC with a 350W power-supply effete?
but that's something the overlay should take care of, rakeyry
0.35 kW/h
##hardware might be a better place to ask
that's true sorry
Oh.. Yeah I mean.. It's looking for a patch.d for audacious.. http://netswarm.net/misc/ take a look at the audacious-9999.ebuild =|
i have gliv but it showing only one image from directory where i have a lot og picts =(
that's not an overlay
it's just a place where various things are dumped
Oh.. So what do I do… To get that file?
well, in this case what you actually did, makes sense
I downloaded it, copied over /files/ but it's looking for a patch.d..
normally an overlay is nicely organized
digest" on your new package in your local overlay
there is no such file in portage, so you'd need to ask whoever is responsible for that ebuild
it's missing a patch file
Ah, I see - missed a line that indicated this wasn't part of your earlier problem
is there no other overlay that offers audacious development ebuild?
not that i've heard of, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist
you could try commenting out that line, and see if it works
Alright
Hmm..
which package has quickpkg?
sys-apps/portage
portage
thanks
It's working so far.
good
i plan to make mozilla-firefox one-shot
i hate building it
:-|
well.. portage is installed. but quickpkg isnt there
but the man page is there
you sure?
/usr/sbin/quickpkg
will try as root
oh.. okok//
root then
doh
:p
yeah it is there
It worked
nice
ok, re-installing openoffice didn't help my situation
á í óéúüñ etc???
you can type them in other applications?
I added es to my LINGUAS and re-compiled and it didn't work
can you copy them from there to ooo?
yep all the other aplications
that isn't really practicle for me, I work regularly in Spanish
yes, but does it work?
to copy them to ooo?
whats the output of locale on console?
yep it works, I can also insert them via the insert characters
i have a silicon image hosting RAID controller. i just made a mirrored set in the controllers setup screen, but linux sees 2 drives instead of the one mirror
hm
i don't understand
maybe is the language pack of openoffice
POSIX for all of them
it's a fake raid controller then … i.e. it's the windows driver that makes a software-raid out of it
oh man
you need to configure linux software raid with that
set your locale accordingly posix is not what you want i think
Scorpaen, if it's a $10 or onboard.. it's not a real raid
it's a card
using utf8 helps with these things
Scorpaen, the real RAID controllers are about $500US
real raid controllers start at 300$ maybe, usually even more
oh
man that throws a wrench into my gears
Scorpaen, that nice little bios screen doesn't actually do anything much… just follow the dm-raid directions
dm-raid directions?
Scorpaen, dmraid is for onboard/fake raid controllers
Scorpaen, it does work with it
is that an ebuild?
know what a winmodem is?
gahhh. yes
Scorpaen, http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Gentoo_Install_on_Bios_(Onboard)_RAID
thanks grknight
your "raid" card is the disk equivilant to a winmodem.
Scorpaen, dmraid is very limited.. it might be better to break it if you're not using windows and just go software raid on linux
or buy a decent raid card
how do I set my locale? And why is it I can type them everywhere else?
if you're only running linux on system, use software raid (md stuff, in the kernel)
software raid in linux is about as nice as software raid gets
can someone help me I can't emerge qt after many attempts http://pastebin.com/943882
keyboard conf is not equal your locale but its important to have it setup to everything run smooth and utf8 is the usual choice for having these characters in every app, you can do it other ways also latin 8859-1 i think
the handbook have this info
I think the latin 8859-1 is more for me utf8 doesn't like Spanish very much
do you have the link for that specific info?
i use utf8 with portuguese and it works pretty good
next time, use some other paste site. pastebin.ca, rafb.net/paste, something. pastebin.com is just so S L O W
do some search also is better than a quick link, its in the handbook
whenever I use Spanish and send it to others it doesn't come out right I have to change it to 8859 something
sorry . . .will do - thank you for the suggestion. didn't know ’bout those sites
SkunkyFone; slow with a capital S?
thats why you are using a locale that doesnt support latin characters maybe
ok, I will look through that, would it be under setting up X ?
no that was on a different setup, not here
no is under user config i think the end of handbook
ahh, that would explain it, I haven't gotten that far Thanks
yes.
um. there's no error there…
I read, then explore then read and explore it is a learning process
thanks for the info.
indeed
at the very bottom there is an error, no?
nope. i think it got cut off.
ok…perhaps I should u/l to another pastebin
yabai__, i recommend using the tool wgetpaste (which you can emerge). then you can `wgetpaste (your build log here)`
maybe. look at what you pasted, it's not all there.
ok
