I am trying to print to a network printer using cups The printer requires a user name and password I have gone
i did yum -y install mplayer mplayer-skins mplayer-fonts
in fact when i type mplayer in i dont get an error just nothing comes up
did it install mplayer-gui
it's not because you've attempted to yum it that it worked.
I suggest you read the yum output -_-
lostson not sure if it did or not i will try and yum install that now
Hello Does anyone know how I might be able to set the permissions on a device so that they don't reset when I reboot?
guess it didnt since it is now installing the gui
Southern_Gentlem; are you actually vilegent as well?
honestly, i don't know
would make sense and all, but yeah…
?
lostson that did it
got it up and running and plays my .wmv and mp3 files now just have to see if i can figure out how to have it play them when i click on them
ok am i right in assuming that if i right click on one file go into propertys and say open with mplayer all other files with the same extention will also use mplayer?
downhillgames, do a whois on me
now do it again
lol
well i can read you changed your name
do you *only* use that name when you're in a pissed-off, i don't give a **** mood?
look at my hostmask
Southern_Gentlem; ya ya, skip the irc tech-talk, bS
nope
i was an IRCopper before
and i've Opped a lot of channels
anyway
i thought it was someone else… lol
my experiences with you under that name have been less-than-stellar
so /me makes a mental note
3
didn't you know? O.o
nah
i can barely make myself sign on irc
hahaha
I've got all my things scripted..
i pretty much think "i'd of banned 'em right now" every time someone opens their mouth haha
/kick ask a real question.
/ban nobody cares about what apps are popular
i don't run the channel
and i come from EFnet hehe. the wild west
yeah, you "ruin" a channel
indeed
:-p
ok does fedora no longer have open office in yum?
it does….why?
ok maybe im just doing install wrong than should it be open office or openoffice?
yum search office
cool didnt know i could do that
Guys, I'm messing around with routing on a spare comp and I'm chaging the network cards around a fair bit (due to faulty ones etc.)
however the old device stay there under the Aliases I have set them
how do I delete these? system-config-network only allows you to create them
ok it still wont install
I changed /etc/rc.local to add in the line: chmod 0666 /dev/scd*, but the permissions still aren't set when I reboot…any ideas?
alex[slx]: make sure you don't have entries for the old NIC's in the config files
I suspect I might, where are the config files located?
in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
ok
thanks, I deleted the files from /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ and /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ also
do you mind pm?
I've got two NIC's in this box now with the two routes setup, but I can't get a connection from one computer to another through it.
Do I need to bridge the NIC's?
alex[slx]; what's up, now?
ok… so you are running nat or what?
nothing
As far as I know (and understand) I should be able to connect from one network to another using routes.
http://digg.com/tech_news/BitTorrent_Anime_Downloaders_Identified_3500_Bill_in_the_Mail
alex[slx]: for this kind of setup to work (router between two networks), you need : routes on each machine of each network indicating that traffic to the other network need to go through the router, and on the router, you need to activate ip forwarding
I have activated ipforwarding.
So I need to set up routes on every machine on both networks so that these machines are 'aware' of the other network and where to find it?
alex[slx]: yes (or maybe a route on the current gateways of the networks)
My Dell 380 (about 2 years old) locks up after 24-56 hours of running. Kernel throws i/o erros and says it can't write to disk. It has to be hard booted. This happened with F5 and F7. Anyone hear of this or know a solution, or is it obviously a bad sata controller?
Hmm, this is getting confusing Does anyone here use k3b to burn DVD's in fedora successfully?
I've burned an iso or two a while ago, not recently, I take it you're having problems?
It would seem that I can't burn a dvd unless I'm root, or the permissions on /dev/scd1 are 0666…which is fine, I can set it to that, but on each reboot it changes back : Even if I add chmod 0666 /dev/scd1 in /etc/rc.local
something, I'm not sure what, gives my user ownership of the device when I log in
Oh, mine has ownership of it as well as far as I can tell But growisofs is dying on me before it even gets to 1%, strange
Hi there, I'm using sendmail to send out registration emails. I am spoofing the host to domains I own but are not hosted on this server, but spam filters often pickup these emails and I have now been added to an email blacklist
Any way to go about avoiding this?
Im just using the php mail command
ok, both of my computers (on separate networks) can ping both NICs of the router.
so there is some level of routing happening
however I can't ping computer to computer through the router.
alex[slx]: that means the forwarding works … but the 'real' routing (rules to get to the other networks) is not working
which list, and do they tell you how you earned a secure email hosting score?
what do I do, I just want to get a connection happening at this stage.
Well, i removed myself from the list this morning and its no longer showing up
but no webmail hosting is going through the server atm.
via router buy dedicated ip address)
I've done that
both computers on both network have been given routes to each others networks
then you do the same kind of thing on a computer 'bar' on the 'B' network (with the opposite value, to get to A by the ip address of the router on network B)
are you sure ?
may I pm you and give you my route tables?
take a look at this
0, mailer=esmtp, pri=120587, relay=mx01.1and1.co.uk. [212.227.15.134], dsn=5.0.0, stat=Service
5 IS-1794 sendmail[28178]: l7FEqF7J028176: l7FEqF7J028178: DSN: Service
***@*** being my email address
?
alex[slx]: what does 'ip route get ip of a computer on the other network' returns ?
192.168.0.1 via 10.0.0.10 dev eth0 src 10.0.0.1 cache mtu 1500 advmss 1460 hoplimit 64
192.168.0.1 is on the router as is 10.0.0.10
^^
alex[slx]: and you can ping 192.168.0.1 ?
yes
I can ping both NICs of the router from both networks
so there is a problem with the last stage of the route, router to dest.
get the route of something you should be able to ping and that is not working
192.168.0.2 or something like that (a computer on the other network, not the router)
192.168.0.3
192.168.0.3 via 10.0.0.10 dev eth0 src 10.0.0.1
you there?
thats the first ipv6 addy i've seen
really? perhaps because most people have reverse DNS?
how would that convert ipv6 to v4?
it would just show you the name, not the IP address
ahhhh, yeah, true….forgot about that
still only on my first cup o' joe
alex[slx]: hi
alex[slx]: ive been answering your every question to koollman but turns out i was not authenticated
alex[slx]: can you paste the ip get from the other computer on the other network too
alex[slx]: and if that doesnt solve it, launch tcpdump -n icmp on the router in between and study what in fact happens with the packages
bit like that
you just can't tell that that's an IPv6 connection
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward to set ip forwarding, which resets on reboot, and I rebooted .
aha
/etc/sysctl.conf - set it there
should have thought about that one
alex[slx]: ive been answering your every question to koollman but turns out i was not authenticated??? we removed that restriction from the channel
5 [freenode] -!- #fedora Please register with services and use the IDENTIFY command (/msg nickserv help) to speak in this
i have 10-15 of those
channel is +R
you cant talk if you're registered.
*not* registered
ok i thought that was changed Anvil
until some idiots try to flood earlier this morning.
i thought you got kicked out too if you lost auth
ok thank you for the info
thats why i didnt think about checking my status
I've changed the chanserv onjoin msg to warn people about that.
Can anyone point me to article/doc on how you would go about using an application that starts its on http server as a "dekstop application"?
looks like nobody reads it -_-
i didnt relog in
i was here the whole time
Would you deploy it with a shell that starts the java server hosting and starts a browser pointed at the server?
why would you need to is my question
Was that to me?
yes
I was reading an article about deploying desktop applications that used their own http server, so I assume the user uses the browser as a gui.
I just don't grok that model and wondered how it would work.
morning all
evening
perlmonkey2, to me the app and webserver would be running the whole time then the user just uses the browser to access it
hello all
i should have just said hi, shouldn't i
But this is a desktop application, not a service. Something that should be started when needed and not running when not needed.
tw2113, you will learn in time the best for all time zone salutations
it's what i get for not being awake long today
The article was for the Perl catalyst framework, and it mentioned using it for desktop applications. Which seemed very weird.
what is the best web hosting mail daemon?
joebrg, the one that works for you
Hi, really stupid question but i've just installed Synergy on my fedora PC as a client. however when i hit the "" key i get a "«" symbol, the only way to get a "" symbol is to put on caps lock, anyone have any ideas?
lol ok I'll rephrase
In your experience, which is the best mail daemon?
joebrg, poll and get banned
lol
i did just see that
joebrg, the one that works for you
sorry;
joebrg, so you are wanting to run a mail server?
or just thinking aobut it
yea basically we're using sendmail to send registration emails out atm
But Im guessing because of bad setup
Email blacklists keep picking us up
is it possible to create a symlink by using a cronjob on a folder that is not accessible as a user to get a hold of the rsync file to change the execution permissions??
ah ok thanks Southern_Gentlem
joeberg hopefully you locked sendmail down so you wouldnt be a open relay
yea thas cool
made sure of that
then what is the reason you are getting blacklisted
rossi-fl: not sure what you mean, symlinks have the permissions of their targets
ok, gots a question relating to grep and wildcards
yes i know but i need to get a hold of that file so i can execute it
I'm trying to test some stuff out, and trying to extract ip addresses out of 'host', and i'm using
host google.com | grep -o *.*.*.* as the command, and it's not popping up anything
what am I doing wrong to pull just the ip?
"(" unexpected
grep works on files
hello all
moin
is there a way to see on dualcore processors, wich process is running in wich core?
what would be the command to symlink the /usr/bin folder to /hsphere/local/home/
ln –help
o.0
i would if i could access that thing over ssh
yeah
all i got is a cronjob page
ln -s target linkname
thnx
np
guzu so that would be ln -s /usr/bin /hspehere/local/home/
rossi-fl, you know what you want
?
what's the link name above?
rossi-fl, what exactly are you trying to do
nithing really i just didn t have permission to run rsync on my webserver
how do I add another IP to a device?
ifconfig –help
joebrg; another ip?
what do you mean, exactly?
Ie, my server has been assigned another external IP address
And I need to add it to my server.
your server is on a dynamic host?
sorry, dynamic IP
no - its a static IP
so the server has multiple ip address host addresses
ah
man ifconfig
k thanks
jkh
I'm having trouble with public key auth in ssh. no matter what I do I get "Permission denied (publickey)". I have my client public key in the server authorized_keys and have all the right permissions set
mornin fedorafolks
evening
evening — yow. not even noon here yet
6hour difference ?
9pm here
6.30pm here
0 pm
hm, bedtime
yeesh, and I haven't even finished my first cup of coffee yet
just as well you weren't invited
lol
Someone's alive?
My mozilla family browsers crash when I visit my web server host at home.
Many are alive, why, do you have an earthquake with you?
Nikoladze, for some reason, I've found in the past that sometimes it needs to be called authorized_keys2. And make sure that you only have one id_rsa or id_dsa
(on the client)
I haven't seen that yet (authorized_keys2)
I don't really know why that is. It just worked that way. maybe ssh protocol 2?? Far from my area of expertise.
morning all quick question… I am looking at getting a dell laptop 1520 insperon to be exact… is that a good idea, or a bad idea for F7 and moving forward… do most if not all things work?? I am not a newbie so If it takes some work to get things running that's fine, I just want to know
the eventually with some work I can get most eveything working on the laptop.
Neuro_geek, doesn't the authorized keys go on the server?
yeah, sorry I wasn't clear. One id version on the client, and possibly an authorized_keys2 file on the server.
once you've created your local keys, you use the *.pub version on the remote server
easiest is to get permission to load a live CD on a test model
and test without installing
scp ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub username@remotesite:remotekey
thanks I'll be sure to give that a shot..
And leave the cd in the showroom computer and watch the sales tech get all confused.
WebDragon|laptop, I have my clients id_rsa.pub in the servers authorized_keys, the server and client ~/.ssh dirs are chmod 700 and the servers authorized_keys is chmod 600. I'm still getting permission denied
so that you don't clobber any keys already in authorized_keys)
things that often cause frustrations are video chipsets and wireless
can you be more specific — are you able to ssh in, in the first place, manually?
WebDragon|laptop, I can ssh in using the challenge response method, but not public keys. with public keys I get permission denied every time
make sure the permissions on ~/.ssh and ~/.ssh/authorized_keys are not too permissive. They can be world-readable, but must not be group-writable
you have a running ssh-agent?
WebDragon|laptop, apparently yes
you've made sure the env vars of that running ssh-agent are showing up when you run (env|grep ssh) in the terminal ?
and you've signed into the agent with ssh-add ?
WebDragon are you running ssh with the -v option it should tell you where it is failing
Nikoladze
kk, hold on
he did mention he has .ssh as chmod 700 and the keys file as 600
yeah, sorry. I'll go back to sleep now
one other thing to do that helps somewhat with setting up this sort of thing is adding a bit to ~/.ssh/config on the local machine
HOST aliasname
HOSTNAME realremotehostname
USER remoteusername
then you can MUCH more easily interact with the site, needing only (ssh aliasname) to connect with it
WebDragon|laptop, this ssh-agent, I've never used it before (knowingly) but I have it running now, if I kill it will it make a difference?
ssh-agent shouldn't make any difference.
ssh-agent is THE thing that makes the difference, dwmw2_PVG
does ssh say that it's trying your private key when it tries to connect?
dwmw2_PVG, yes, thats the last thing before No more authentication methods to try
I'll pastebin it, hold on
ok, in the terminal you're currently running:
killall ssh-agent
on the server or client?
on the local machine
This is a Linux-in-general type of question: Is there a way to create a user who has full privileges to copy the entire system using rsync but not be root. This user will also need SSH access. So basically all that the user should be able to do is ssh into the box and back it up with rsync
but not have root's full privileges to roam around and mess things up. Let me know if i'm hitting the pipe too much or if its actually possible
ssh-agent does not need to be running on the remote machine
ssh-agent runs on the client. It just caches your keys for you so you don't have to type your passphrase. (and can also let you use those same key when you log in from the machine you're connected to, to another machine)
now you run a new instance of ssh-agent
normally you have this set up so that it runs when you log into the machine and then adds you to the running agent
(ssh-agent -s)
how did you add the public key to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on the server? You didn't let it word-wrap?
no joy, same error
we're not done yet
don't run ahead
did you run ssh-agent -s after killall ssh-agent ?
not with -s hold on
*headdesk*
start over
killall ssh-agent
same error
Hey guys, my httpd server wont start but i have not found any error messages. Any ideas?
Nikoladze:
DON'T RUN AHEAD
ssh-agent really isn't involved here unless you're being asked for the passphrase for your key and you're not able to type it correctly
WebDragon|laptop, sorry
do you even _have_ a passphrase on your key?
dwmw2_PVG, nope
one step at a time — if you keep trying to ssh over before it's done being configured OF COURSE IT WON'T WORK
ok, then ssh-agent is a complete waste of time. Ignore everything related to ssh-agent
but you really ought to use a passphrase on your key
you set up no passphrase on the key when you created it?
you gave no password ?
did you pastebin the output of 'ssh -v $server' ?
WebDragon|laptop, no password
you should fix that. But let's get the thing working first
dwmw2_PVG, I'll get right on it
that's what I was trying to get him to do, when you broke in, dwmw2_PVG
bthat's what I was trying to get him to do, when you broke in, dwmw2_PVG/b
WebDragon|laptop, sorry
killall ssh-agent and then
ssh-agent -s
you seemed to be talking about ssh-agent, which is nothing to do with the problem.
copy and paste the three lines BACK into the terminal
then, if you do (env |grep -i ssh) you should at least see something like the following
SSH_AGENT_PID=2875
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/ssh-dBbmFN2874/agent.2874
THEN you do ssh-add
this really is irrelevant. Can we get the actual problem fixed first?
without which, you have not linked your identity (keys) to the agent
Hi!
My mozilla family browsers crash when I visit my web server at home.
How can I solve it?
WebDragon|laptop, I'll try that now
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467663
I fail to see how it's irrelevant when he's not yet had a successful connection with the local ssh-agent so that it uses the keys, but fine go ahead
he doesn't _need_ ssh-agent
ssh will use the keys from ~/.ssh/id_rsa and ~/.ssh/id_dsa
if there's a passphrase, it'll ask him to type it
um, that's what ssh-agent is for
since there isn't, it doesn't.
using the keys from ~/.ssh/id_(rsa|dsa)
everything looks OK on the client side. It's trying to use two keys, and the server hosting is rejecting both
the problem seems to be server side
and only having to type the passphrase _once_
can you pastebin the output on the server of
ls -lad ~ ~/.ssh
ls -la ~/.ssh
of course it's rejecting them, he never connected with the running agent
cat ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
*headdesk*
I've told you already; the agent is irrelevant.
I use this stuff constantly for dozens of sites during my daily job, I should damn well know how it works
bI use this stuff constantly for dozens of sites during my daily job, I should damn well know how it works/b
agent's irrelevant, eh? fine. this I have to see
openssh hacking, amongst other things.
ain't a pissing contest, I just use the thing all the time and am wondering how you get the keys working without the convenience of the agent
dwmw2_PVG, http://pastebin.com/m44653baf
I see your usernames are different
did you specify the username when you invoked ssh?
yes
precisely how? Can you show the command line you used?
I take it you don't have root access on the server?
ssh -v svn@192.168.2.3
seems correct
evening
some servers wanted V2 keys in @/.ssh/authorized_keys2 but that's openssh 4.5 on the server and shouldn't want that
I do, I'm trying to set up public key auth so I can use tunnel svn over ssh
you didn't include the permissions on the home directory.
what's the difference between kmod-nvidia-legacy and kmod-nvidia-legacy-PAE?
and you didn't include the contents of the authorized_keys file either, in your pastebin
PAE is for the physical address extensions kernel
can you look in /var/log/secure for messages about why sshd rejected the login
messages like
3 shinybook sshd[27270]: Authentication refused: bad ownership or modes for file
but presumably not exactly that
dwmw2_PVG, http://pastebin.com/m69477c7c
permissions on ~ and ~/.ssh seem fine.
contents of authorized_keys?
they're the _public_ key remember, so it's fine to show them.
assuming your problem isn't that you put the private part into authorized_keys
so I guess, if I issue a 'yum install kmod-nvidia-legacy' it will fetch the correct module for my kernel automatically, or do I have to indicate a version number?
4 localhost sshd[4939]: Connection closed by
ok, on the server, as root, run:
try it without, if not add $(uname -r) to the end
/usr/sbin/sshd -d -p 2222
then on your client run ssh -v -p 2222 svn@192.168.2.3
same error
this will run a new ssh dæmon on the server listening on a different port in debug mode, then connect to it.
please pastebin the output of the _server_
do I have to reboot to load the module or is it enough to restart X?
dwmw2_PVG, http://pastebin.com/m310383ad
trying public key file /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
dwmw2_PVG, its looking for the authorized keys in the wrong place?
grep svn /etc/passwd
dwmw2_PVG, fixed it
cool. What had you done?
now, put a damn passphrase on your key
dwmw2_PVG, there was a bad line in my config (I changed it to what it was :-\)…
if you get tired of typing the passphrase, _then_ you can use ssh-agent.
dwmw2_PVG, it was looking for the authorized_keys in ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
ssh-agent _should_ be running automatically whenever you log into X on a Fedora system, so you just need to run 'ssh-add' and it'll ask for your passphrase, then 'remember' your decrypted keys and let ssh use them
and because its started by root it looked in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
heh.
wooops
on the client, are you running under X?
yeah
ok, so in a _new_ terminal (not the one you've been mucking about with ssh-agent in) you should be able to run 'ssh-add -l' and it'll tell you the agent has no identities ?
dwmw2_PVG, couldn't open a connection to your authentication agent
did you kill ssh-agent earlier?
yes he did
oops, that was silly
not necessarily as he had more than one running at that point
well I ran it again, same problem.
you'll need to log out of X and back in again to get it working properly in everything you run, but for now just run
eval `ssh-agent`
at some point you have to clean house of running agents
and start a fresh one
no, because we run just _one_ as the parent of the X session
normally yes
but when testing and debugging sometimes people start more than one
first, set a passphrase on your key
ssh-keygen -p -f ~/.ssh/id_dsa
if one pays attention while assisting them you can determine this rather easily
I wasn't paying much attention to what you were doing with ssh-agent at the time because it was just noise; it wasn't related to the real problem. Now I'm trying to sort out what you've done there too.
have you set a passphrase now ?
hang on a sec
nothing yet - you stopped me before I could get him connected with a single running agent
instead of interjecting al your opinions why don't you just let dwmw2_PVG just help this guy out
binstead of interjecting al your opinions why don't you just let dwmw2_PVG just help this guy out/b
you haven't helped at all that i've noticed .. whereas dwmw2_PVG *is* attempting to help
incorrect, as dwmw2_PVG stopped me
dwmw2_PVG, passphrase is done
had he not been here, I would have
ok.
I use this stuff constantly, daily.
So now when you ssh to the server, it'll ask you for your passphrase. And you'll have to type it.
which means that if your client machine is compromised, it doesn't automatically give access to the server too.
do you want to just pastebin the bit where you get asked for the passphrase, so WebDragon|laptop believes it?
not necessary
I already know where you're at
haha
without the agent, it asks for the passphrase each time
now, if you get bored of typing your passphrase, you can use ssh-agent to cache the decrypted version of the key for you
ok
in a normal Fedora system we run ssh-agent automatically, and the environment variables it sets (to tell other programs how to talk to it) are inherited by _everything_ you run as part of your X session
including all your terminals
with the agent it asks for the passphrase once when you log into X and thereafter you no longer need to use it
you've unfortunately killed the ssh-agent which was running like that, so you'll need to run a new one just for now:
eval `ssh-agent`
so it automatically caches it for me?
those are backticks
hi
who can help me to calculate my tv modeline ?
set up HOST/HOSTNAME/USER in ~/.ssh/config and you can even use a shortcut name for the remote server, and skip tying in the username entirely
then run 'ssh-add' and it'll ask for your passphrase and add the keys to the agent
'ssh-add -l' will confirm that it's got them, and you can ssh to the server without typing the passphrase again.
you should be able to use gnome-session-properties to make 'ssh-add' run whenever you log in, if you want to.
when run without a terminal it'll bring up a dialog box to ask.
and then you can do nifty stuff such as with vim's netrw, (gvim rsync://hostnickname/remotepath/remotefile) and edit the file remotely
no passwords, no usernames, no ip-addresses or long hostnames
cool
thanks for all the help
And finally as WebDragon|laptop says you can configure ssh so that it 'knows' the username &c to use on the remote system.
Host foobar
Username svn
Hostname 192.168.2.3
then you can just 'ssh foobar'
instead of the last thing in my history — how do I fix that ?
/join #vim
hey frozty_sa
hey there
hm, taxi to airport in about 7 hours. Must be time to sleep.
how goes?
I asked there first, and this only happens on my Fedora machines
hm, have a look at my vimrc and compare it with yours — don't know what I'm doing differently but I've never had that happen to me — or maybe you've brought over a vimrc from other different boxes ?
someone on #vim said I need to install vim-enhanced and I have vim-minimal instead — haven't tried it but it seems he's probably right
yes that is correct
you do need vim-enhanced
I have almost all of it installed
vim-common-7.1.12-1.fc7
vim-enhanced-7.1.12-1.fc7
vim-X11-7.1.12-1.fc7
vim-minimal-7.1.12-1.fc7
gah, forgot to use xargs
anyway them's the four I have installed on this box
if you do rpm -qa vim\* and you only have vim-common and vim-minimal then yum install vim-enhanced
if you want gvim for the nice colorschemes, you can add vim-X11 as well
vim-enhanced worked, I think I got it ! Thanks !
cheers
hi guys … I just rebooted my up-to-date Fedora 7 box and all the window borders are missing. Can't find any docs on how to fix it. I'm using Gnome.
I had that happen to me after installing beryl + emerald — you didn't happen to install that recently did you ?
I am trying to print to a network printer using cups. The printer requires a user name and password. I have gone into the Control Center in KDE looking for somewhere to add this to my printer. Can anyone help me figure out where to add the user name and password to an already configured
printer?
[T]ank, try the web interface to cups: http://localhost:631
Shalom everyone ! While creating a tar file on F7 i get error code 141 (in $?) - Does anyone know what error 141 means ?
hmm. if that page doesnt open, what could be wrong? I restarted cups to make sure it was running
nope… just opened… took forever.
i will look around there.. thanks Neuro_geek:
[T]ank: there's also system-config-printer which I'd recommend trying first
not exactly the same as kde's control center
looking there also
[T]ank, that network printer, is connected to another computer? or directly to the network?
directly to a network
it requires authentication. I have to pass it a user name and password
not finding in cups web admin or the system-config-printer anywhere to set that.
in windows it is set in the applications printer prefs. excel for example… maybe open office has similar? not seeing anything like that.
[T]ank, is ti comunicating on :9100 ?
631
so it's ipp based, right?
yes
then in system-config-printer, select ipp
ok
and…?
can the user name and pass be inserted into the uri somehow?
and it will ask about ip/name, and user/pass, as far as i remember (i have none available )
ok, no user/pass, but you can add them in the end like this: ipp://user:pass@etc
ahhh… thats what I was looking for
ipp://user:pass@10.0.1.115:631/ipp?
[T]ank, you wil see, just do it
and yes it's user:pass@whatever
ipp:// == protocol /ipp == subdir
cool. learned something new I hadn't run into before
there's an article about ipp+centos on howtoforge i believe
know if anyone's duplicated the effort for an article on fedorasolved yet ?
there used to be a great bunch of howtos on fedoranews.org before all that broke up
no, i don't know
bit dated now (FC1-3 era stuff) but some of the info has to still be relatively useful
I'll have to look — I'm curious to know if anyone bothered to migrate any of the stuff that's still useful and update it for modern releases
is there anything I have to do on my client to have it show XDMCP servers on the network. What I want is to have the machine boot local OS, but then give me a login on my server from GDM
hello, are fedora suitable for a stable production server in a small office?
Suitable, yes. Recommended, no.
hehe ok, whats recommended?
RHEL or CentOS.
ok thanks
hello
i have a pen drive + wireless, when i connect pen to PC the fedora only detect the partition of drivers of my penwireless…. i want see the rest of content what can i do ?
the partition of i see its
sdb1
Log a bug report against the kernel.
i have too sdb and sda
i try to mount that, but that say the file system is invelid
What filesystems are on sda and sdb?
hey i just set up nat , but realy dont have any experience with iptables
can anyone take a look at the script im using to enable nat ?
here….
http://pastebin.com/m6730e445
log
Just use firestarter.
hi
how can i mount sda ?
What filesystem is it?
ive just plugged in a old crap hdd into my box, how would i format her? - shes mounted as /dev/hdc
its a pen dirve
i dont know
fdisk?
if you want some info on iptables, there's tonnes of tutes and info at www.netfilter.org
supost is fat
but that wont mount
MalMen, fdisk
First you partition it with fdisk, then you make the filesystems with mkfs.
although I don't suggest you immediately try all that you read without running it all through a sanity filter first, and comparing what's said in one article, with what's said in another article there.
ualthough I don't suggest you immediately try all that you read without running it all through a sanity filter first, and comparing what's said in one article, with what's said in another article there./u
fdisk: command not found
/sbin/fdisk
you can learn a lot from the site, but it's a bit confusing — at least it used to be; they may have cleaned it up some since I last browsed there
alexalexalex, http://fedoranews.org/tchung/storage/
you need to log in as root
google "where is fdisk"
alexalexalex, does that link help much?
the first thing you do when you get command not found is make sure that if you;re trying to do it as root via su, that you've read (man su) and understand what the -l or –login switch does and why you want to use that always
hello, i'm looking for a realtime (sys)log analyzer, to be able to send warning emails and run scripts when some event (documented by logs) occurs. can you advise me a good and (possibly) easy one?
b-owl, i have it now, thanks
msg me if you need help
its cool
i got it
THEN you check and see whether it's installed. the thing to remember is that $USER's $PATH is different from root's $PATH — and if you don't know about PATHs then you need to read Rute

Anyone about tar exiting with error code 141 ?
we dont know error codes by heart. Unless it's in the man page you'll have to give us the error message.
I'm having a problem with booting at all
I got past the install, and it hangs at "Uncompressing Linux… OK, booting the kernel", and I think it's a hardware problem
can you be more specific about what's happening?
I was typing…
Anvil, Thats the point, no error displayed ! tar just "finishes" with no error code, and $? gives 141. I've looked on the tar man page and on the net, but couldn't find what's 141. thought you guys might help.
yes I noticed
as for hardware, vanilla Dell E1505N
I get the same problem with a Live CD
does it give you any kernel panic there or just freezes up completely and you get no further text ?
the latter
either you have filtered stderr to dev/null, either you added a verbose flag and you just havent seen it
so you cannot boot from the LiveCD either eh?
no
yoicks
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs/F7Common
do you have the DVD installer ?
no, I used a USB install from the DVD image
this is F7, btw
@ivazquez: I'll give it a try, thanks immensely
ahh — I might have mentioned trying the Rescue mode if you had a bootable dvd installer
heh first thing on that page is mention of dell dualcore systems
it seems to be what I was looking for
now just see if it works
Anvil, The command I've used is "tar cfzv sent1.tgz *.pdf *.ini *.ready", and tar "stops" with NO error, and $? gives 141.
Anvil, I should say I suspect that computer's m.b might be faulty.
is the default F7 kernel SMP?
run `dmesg'. Anything funny ? filesystem or tar related ?
that might be the problem
brb, going to try the extra boot option
*all* fedora kernels are smp-enabled since *all* cpu who can buy *are* smp.
There is no UP i686 kernel in Fedora.
s/who/you/
Anvil, Nope, dmesg has no special warning, and nothing on /var/log/messages too.
Actually, the i586 kernel is UP.
I downloaded fedora 7,but still had FC5on board at boot up, what do?
You need to twiddle the ronol bits.
?
/dev/null" runs fine with exit code 0.
with a strong magnet?
reproducible ?
the tar problem, i mean
With tweezers and a toothpick.
# kubuntu
Anvil, Yep, It happends every time (but happends on different .pdf file)
join #kubuntu
Anvil, I mean it stops at a different point.
Anvil, Let me try without compression.
enough disk space ?
if it happens `randomly', could be your ram, or disk.
Anvil, Yep, only 52% in use.
*though*, if it was the ram, you should see some 'segfault' message in dmesg, like : totem-video-thu[21387]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 00002aaab172c162 rsp 0000000043204030 error 4
Anvil, I've ran tests on this computers memory, and its fine. I do suspect the mother board might be broken though.
i want to dump database it's 550 MB any good idea's ?
52% of 10MB is not exactly big.
try to enable core dumps, `ulimit -c unlimited', and retry
see if you got a core file, and try to debug it
Anvil, 7.5 Gigs free
that aint much but its some
Forgot the name of the bsod on linux, can someone remind me ?
there is no bsod in linux
bsod ? O_O
blue screen of death
yeah i know
i'm just scared of that
Anvil, Oh yeah, this computers gives kernel panics some times.
never seen it in linux
then you've got a bad puter
it aint linux's fault
oh yes, there is an screen saver
try to check tar package files integrity
rpm -V tar
but if you really have panics, i'd blame the hardware, or low-level drivers
rpm -V tar gives no output.
also check the glibc.
Anvil, rpm -V glibc gives "..?….. /usr/sbin/glibc_post_upgrade.i386"
i386 or x86_64 ?
Anvil, F7, i386, and i've just tried without comperssion, and it works ! just removed the z from the tar command, all else if just the same.
hi, is fedora postfix package build with mysql support ?
(fedora 7)
heyas
check the gzip package integrity
how can you edit an user's groups in fedora?
system-config-users
ok thanks
or usermod man page.
Anvil, rpm -V gzip gives no error, and the error (or the lack of) is consistent. just ran it without z for the second time and its fine.
try j instead of z
try to strace also.
Anvil, what would j do ?
(j being bzip2, z being gzip)
everytime someone gives you a command you dont know to run, you just *must* read manual of the command.
i might just be lying to you.
he's like that Isuzu salesman
(:
(anyone remember those commercials?)
isuzu… isuzu… nope..
Anvil, One more thing. I've created an uncompressed file with gzip, then run "gzip sent1.tar sent1.tgz" then got "Segmentation fault"
aha.
salesman's talking and talking and the subtext goes "he's lying"
are you up-to-date ?
(not that i believe gzip has such segfault problem)
(but still..)
move your tar on another filesystem, then retry to compress
try to compress to stdout (man gzip) and dump that into dev/null.
any luck ?
and still : strace
the extra option worked
woot
connection to a WEP-ed network
good
You could always use bzip2 instead of gzip
the network config doesn't seem to have a WEP key field
you might first try enabling NetworkManager and NetworkManagerDispatcher to see if your wireless card's already supported
gzip just doesnt segfault. The problem is out there.
it is, via iwlwifi
I checked, it's an ipw3945abg, and iwlwifi works with it… iwlwifi is pwnage!
Anvil, Yes, my machine is " 2.6.22.1-41.fc7" with no yum updates pending. Lemme try and copy the .tar to another machine and try gzip there.
I needed neither madwifi nor ndiswrapper to enable my laptop's wireless — just starting the NetworkManager service made it show up in the applet, where I was able to configure it no sweat
your using gzip wrong.. you should just run it like this 'gzip sent1.tar' and then it will create snet1.tar.gz
as for WEP keys? I tried editing keys-wifi0 in /etc/sysconfg/network…
added "KEY=xxxxxxxxxxxxx" to it, and it tried to pass it as an option… need… syntax… reference…
if you can - to avoid disk usage - move the tar to dev/shm and compress it decompress it until it fails.
http://fedoramobile.org/fc-wireless/ might be of some assistance
kdekorte is right, Eliran_Itzhak__ — it's (gzip file.tar) not (gzip file.tar.gz file.tar) — you're confusing the tar command structure with gzip's in that case — man gzip for details
system-config-network; highlight your adapter; click "edit"; click wireless settings tab; make sure your WEP key is prepended with 0xMYWEPKEY
but if (gzip file) still segfaults, then you have other issues which seems likely
still, it shoudlnt segfault
where MYWEPKEY is your actual wep key
agreed
WebDragon|laptop, Oh, ok. just gzip x.tar ?
it should create x.tar.gz automatically from the file you give it
but as anvil said, it still shouldn't SEGV
Thanks for cleaing that out. "gzip sent1.tar" segfaults anyway (on the original machine)
I'll try it now, brb
yeah then something else is wrong, Eliran_Itzhak__
weird that rpm -V gzip comes up with nothing but it may be one of the libs it pulls in
-V == verify .. as in verify the rpm .. not an installed rpm
you might pastebin the output of (rpm -Va) for us
rpm -q gzip
maybe one of the shared libs gzip uses is somehow corrupted
what is the name for the mysql module for apache (httpd) ?
hm ? rpm -V actually verifies installed packages, doesnt it ?
what like the auth stuff? mod_auth_mysql ?
gzip only depends of glibc.
doesn't pull in anything else ?
leaves us ram disk and cpu.
not that i know of .. does nothing here and gzip works fine
and whatever is linking them
could be bad ram
rpm -V will returns nothing if files arent altered.
ok then, my mistake
WebDragon|laptop, I want to run drupal in my home server…
send an rpm -Va, you'll see lots of configuration files, pyc files (declared as %ghost in packages..), etc..
i did, returned nothing.
well.. rpm -Va gzip .. not rpm -Va
-Va accepts wildcards like -qa
haven' worked with drupal yet — only wordpress once, and while I wrote a plugin for it to fill a functionality gap I needed for the one site, I've not used it since
-Va gzip will only check gzip
yes
a whole -Va will something like 15min to run, depending of disks, installed packages and system load
i think i'm clear on it now.. i was just unaware it verified installed rpms
thanks
man rpm to the rescue
rpm -Va takes less than 1 min on this machine (quad xeon)
depends on disks, not on cpu. It'll md5sum everything.
WebDragon|laptop, php was compiled –without-mysql… guess that figures… I am using official packages
have you installed php-mysql rpm ?
rpm -q php-mysql
no kidding ? so what is php-mysql package ?
ok, still went relatively fast
i guess a quad xeon is a server.. no big packages like gnome, mplayer, vlc..
it's a workstation
wow
heh just for amusement, how many packages? rpm -qa |wc -l
but it could be a server….
i have gnome, etc installed
just "wow".
heh
i have 2 of these
send me one
opsec, wanna give me one?
me first
hell, even half of one
don't listen to Anvil
ibm intellistations
~ 1330 packages here on the laptop
]# rpm -qa |wc -l
1204
less than a minute to rpm -Va the whole thing? yow
sweet
opsec, so what do you use those things for exactly?
1281
yes, i'm not kidding
to quote Zaphod, "phreeeeow"
WebDragon|laptop, thanks, I installed php-mysql and all seems fine now
cheers
Is there a guide somewhere for manually installing Fedora? (i.e., without using the installer)
one is my main workstation, the other serves as an exact copy, media server
nothing on fedorafaq.org ?
brb
opsec, i envy you and your job
if something doesn't seem to be working in the %POST section of a kickstart file, can i create a firstboot item from the kickstart file? (or something like that?)
bif something doesn't seem to be working in the %POST section of a kickstart file, can i create a firstboot item from the kickstart file? (or something like that?)/b
lol
these are my own personal systems .. i work for myself
stupidly enough, I missed that there was, in fact, a WEP field
d'oh!
doH!
i don't like downtime so i don't skimp on price ..
that's always fun
nothing there that I can see
but here's what I gotevice wlan0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
graagh…
Device wlan0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
battery backup units ? power conditioners to clean up the battery-backups' square-wave power output into clean sine-wave power?
I guess iwlwifi doesn't really work after all…
opsec, so how much does just one cost you? $4000?
is NetworkManager running ?
yes it is
service NetworkManager status
do you get the applet in the menubar ?
not sure, I'll check
and if that doesn't work, I have a copy of the original ipw3945 drivers…
also service NetworkManagerDispatcher status
using CamelCase Like So?
the applet gives you option for wireless access when you grab the dropdown menu
yes with the CamelCase
np, I'll brb
for both of them, annoyingly
copy and paste FTW
cyl
heh
yes, about that
hello everyone. I've got a strange printing/firefox related problem: whatever page I'm printing otu of firefox, it's lacking all texts - only printing images, lines and so on. the same pages can be printed out of konqueror and then won't lack any text. any ideas?
money is irrelevant.
time is money and vice versa
I'm using iwl3945 on my machine right now. I'm using it with 128bit WEP
how do I reset mysql's root password ?
binutlis:have you tried mysql-administrator gui tool ?
google for 'mysql root password'
WebDragon|laptop, allready found it… on mysql's official site… seems that this is a faq heh…
you think? (:
hehe
I'm surprised you didn't catch that one (sylpheedClaws running iwl395) as I just now found the article you wrote for fedoramobile
how to display disklabels? (for editing /etc/fstab)
e2label
man e2label
what makes you think i didn't ?
no particular reason other than didn't see you join the discussion
other than about the WEP key anyway
i told him how to add the wep key in s-c-n .. he didn't say his card wasn't picked up
iwl works for some people .. for others it simply does not.
iwl3945 vs ipw3945
iwl "appears" to work for me ..
I only just found it myself googling around a bit
strong signal, appears to connect .. etc .. one problem .. no internet connectivity
heh
does iwlwifi 4965 already work?
as soon as i swtich to ipw .. everything works as expected immediately
*switch
i believe so, ask EvilBob
I got lucky with the USB wifi in this laptop working outta the box with only NetworkManager needed
he's got the hardware
ok ty
if you try iwl again, try doing a 'ifconfig wlan0 up' … some people seem to need that before the interface will work. I had to do that sometimes in the past…
pleasant surprise that, after the headaches I went through with FC5 and having no other network connectivity OTHER than wireless at that point in time
well.. ipw is very simple for me, i've had zero problems with it since fc6 and every kernel so far
that one required hand-compiling one of the serialmonkey rt2×000 drivers
if it doesn't work as well as ipw, i'll just wait, i know it's actively being developed
wound up having to download the stuff to a usb stick just to get the machine going so I could update after the install
i'm fine .. not badmouthing iwl or ipw for that matter these things take time to work out
yeah, very true… they are doing pretty rapid devel on it.
yep, i've noticed
fortunately I'd already networked all the other folks in the household before updating that box from fc4-5
might try again on the next kernel
which packages are needed for multimedia e.g. mp3 playback ?
are the serialmonkey drivers now part of F 7 ?
this depends on what apps you are using
rt2×00 ?
I cant even scp the .tar file out of the machine, it panics during the scp. I'll just replace the mother board in few days.. Thanks for the help !
you might try rebooting the machine to the rescue CD and running memtest86 on it
it might be a bad ram chip and not a bad motherboard
rhytmbox / totem video player, i searched on google and found that i need gstream
WebDragon|laptop, I did, the memory is fine.
worth testing at any rate
example: if you're using xmms, enable the livna repo and yum install xmms-mp3
ok then.
but it seems to be already installed, but i cant play mp3
sane option, imvho.
yes, you might want to enable livna and get the gstreamer packages
-bad and -ugly
Anvil, What do you mean ?
ok thank you i will try it
i mean i'd also blame the hardware. seriously.
you might like amarok as a player — livna has the amarok-extras-nonfree package for it to enable mp3
Anvil, Yes. I'm sure its the hardware (hench the kernel panics on gzip/scp)
(it's actually a stub that pulls in xine-lib-extras-nonfree)
droolux, rpm -q xmms-mp2
droolux, rpm -q xmms-mp3 rather
ok, what is livna? an packages collection ?
rpm.livna.org
the non-official official 3rd party repository to use.
it contains software that may have patent or other issues in certain countries
so livna is basically for fedora like what universe is to debian right?
how can i specify a particular dns server address for resolv.conf while still using networkmanager.
what is debian ?
a distro
Anvil, is this your comedy hour
?
since fedora proper is completely FOSS, these packages cannot be added to the release and must be added after an install
yeah… everyone knows debian nowadays
and yes aleksanteri
loads of distros are based on debian, including ubuntu
ok
Just trying to avoid telling i dont know something.
if I have a device that shows up just fine under /dev/input but it is nethier a keyboard nor a mouse (so xev and showkey show nothing when I press buttons). how do I get input from that device to a shellscript. The device in question is a plantronics CS50-USB headset, and I's like to parse
pressing of the call accept/end button.
aleksanteri, this is fedora based on the most successful linux variation ever written….
yeah, red hat
if i read it right
so lets not turn this in to a ubuntu or debian forum ok?
this is a step up
(sigh)
Fedora Core is not RHEL
lol this is how rumors get started
no luck… I switched to "Managed"
sure not… i know that there's a *tiny* hole between debian and fedora…
then, I ran /sbin/ifup wlan0, and got this:Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.
sry for my many newb questions , i have installed fedora just yesterday
failed.
now i have installed livna, but rhythmbox still says, g-streamer plugins to decode mp3 coud not be found
wait a sec… it sounds like a driver problem, so… if I were to install ipw3945, it might work
I'll give it a shot, brb
'livna-release' is just a yum configuration file. Have you installed the gstreamer plugins before *even* trying to run rhythmbox again ?
i try it now, i thoguht livna would contain the codec lol
droolux, yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad
you can do that all in one command instead of two, just list both packages
yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly gstreamer-plugins-bad
WebDragon|laptop, sigh…. that's true
i don't know why i made it two
how about
me either
yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly && yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad
yea
still two instances of yum where one will do
:/ but it looks more unixy!
LOL
and don't listen to WebDragon|laptop's shamless plug for amarok. rhythmbox ftw!
rofl
openbysource, ping
if you are going to use amarok, use the xine backend
yeah I am shameless about amarok — tried a LOT of players for fedora til I came across that one
or just use 'listen'
, ok and amarok contains all that gstream stuff ?
daMaestro, pong
you won't need gstreamer for amarok
WebDragon|laptop, i'm also an amarok supporter, but i've found i also like listen
WebDragon|laptop, idk i've just always like rhythmbox
openbysource, did they work?
daMaestro, the packages got installed and i created my plone website. thanks to your repo
openbysource, ahh ok, good
haven't tried Listen yet — will have to… I'm always into trying out stuff
i had to ZZZzZz shortly after i saw the transfer start
WebDragon|laptop, listen is like the gnome answer to amarok
is listen a command line app?
thanks for the tip
oh
nvm
no, it is a gui for media
lol
yeah maybe i'll check it out
also, i quite enjoy taking a break and firing up miro
yeah miro is awesome
well.. Miro .. yum info Miro (might still be in updates testing)
i still usually call it dtv still
ok now it works , i know amarok and will install it later
thank you for your help, i like the fedora community
anyone tried any of these subtitle software. gnome subtitles works fine. what about subtitle editor and another one call guapol something. either there is no package available or failed to run.
how do I make KDE in F7 ask me what to do if I pop an audio CD in the drive?
I give up…
ipw3945 isn't working, iwlwifi isn't working, NetworkManager and NetworkManager dispatcher are trying to work and can't work because of the other two…
ok, so you don't want me to try and assist then? since you gave up?
http://fedoramobile.org/Members/opsec/intel-ipw3945-on-fedora-7/
now it came up, but it took ages to do so
system-preferences-hardware-removable drives and media
that isn't exactly a KDE thing
true, but it's one of the default menu options (or at least appears to be
utrue, but it's one of the default menu options (or at least appears to be /u
thanks to those instructions, I think I'm almost there…

you do have a intel 3945, right? pastebin the results of 'lspci' ?
it's a ipw3945, I know for sure
sylpheedClaws, uname -r ?
2.6.21
haven't modified the kernel since the install
sylpheedClaws, non-xen true ?
is the default xen?
I'm using the out-of-the-box defaults
sylpheedClaws, no. but checking is good. uname -r can tell
let me chroot first…
frack… chroot won't uname correctly… d'oh
I think it's non-xen
sylpheedClaws, why you are in chroot
because networking doesn't work on Fedora, so I'm on Ubuntu
sylpheedClaws, aah.
using fedora7 ?
yes
provide the information others are asking you for please
in KDE, not in Gnome
sylpheedClaws, then it's non-xen.
how do you expect them to help you if you just ramble on?
err… maybe because I'm answering their questions? why are you jumping on me?
sylpheedClaws, lspci -v pastebin
because nirik has asked you to pastebin lspci and openbysource asked you for uname -r
neither of which have you provided
be patient… I have to reboot into Fedora to do either of those, and Fedora isn't the fastest distro
calm down
i am calm
sylpheedClaws, lol. man i don't know why that stuff doesn't work for you.
you're wasting peoples time when you aren't prepared to answer their questions
if lspci -v works from chroot, I have the results
sylpheedClaws, why you boot ubuntu ? when you have fedora
well, if you were listening, networking doesn't work from Fedora, so I need to chroot
bwell, if you were listening, networking doesn't work from Fedora, so I need to chroot/b
sylpheedClaws, you must be having LAN to get networking started up in fedora
does ipw work in ubuntu for you?
@nirik: yes it does, it uses the BLOB drivers
and the pastebin:
http://pastebin.com/m3f8b4f0d
sylpheedClaws, http://fedoramobile.org/Members/opsec/intel-ipw3945-on-fedora-7/
I gave him that earlier
that was where I got the instructions
sylpheedClaws, yeah so any progress
WebDragon|laptop, oops!! didn't knew
I'm using the BLOB drivers, the problem is what I posted before
no worries
if iwl doesn't work for you in fedora, that howto is one of 2 options for you in f7
sylpheedClaws, what is the problem
the above error I think is when you have not loaded the module, but started the daemon.
allow me to refresh your memory:
0: ERROR: Could not find Intel PRO/Wireless
9 PM) sylpheedClaws: Network
sylpheedClaws, don't paste here man
sylpheedClaws, lsmod | grep ipw
it _was_ only two lines
I did load the modules beforehand
make sure the iwl3945 module is blacklisted (per step 1 of the howto above)
did that
sylpheedClaws, can you please pastebin the lsmod output
cant, because chroot wont let me
but I made sure to modprobe the ipw3945 module
sylpheedClaws, you don't have lan ?
once you compile and install the module as per step 7 .. you'll also need to reboot the system
did that
nowhere in the howto do i mention to modprobe the module
if you follow it to the letter .. it works
wait a second
it's been tested by several users, it does work
I might have done Step 8 wrong
let me see
nope, somehow it worked
what about this line:
Also, disable all other network cards before attempting to use the ipw3945.
initially on boot, your card will not be found until the .ko is loaded .. by the time you're at the login prompt the network should be up

Please refresh my humble memory, if I want to add some command to Fedora boot there was a file to edit what was the name of this file?
fedora boot where. if it's pc boot, edit the bootloader configuration
this is not a bootloader question
I am talking about adding a command to a script file
well, initscripts are in /etc/init.d
rc.local?
yes that is it
ok
I think that to correct a multimedia keyboard problem I can set the commands in that file
I don't know how to make an init script
Lordveda, why not keyboard preferences
this won't correct a console kernel error message that is passed to syslog
bthis won't correct a console kernel error message that is passed to syslog/b
i see
I think Fedora developers need to focus on a script that searches for a certain multimedia keyboard on system setup and then run the corresponding init script for that keyboard so that these kernel messages won't be issued out.
Log a RFE.
i am officially an idiot
i created a secondary user for troubleshooting and gave that user a weak password..and forgot that i created them… stupid bruteforce ssh password attempts compromised that user account

Lordveda, and you should talk to said keyboard manafactor and have them Open source there specs
