ok, well, glibc-2.5 is current stable and iirc they are not supporting anything older than that anymore. so any bug/security issues and you gotta upgrade anyways. And that, iirc, needs gcc-4.

hey guys, is there a way to ssh into a machine start a scp file transfer with your current user and then log out of that ssh connection and have my scp transfer still complete? I have been resorting to putting it in my crontab.. any other ways? (other than screen)

fdisk -l
That will list you all your partitions and their device names and filesystems
and size and etc.
