System scanner for detailed PC system specification

does anyone know a system scanner that is online or where i can find out detailed system specs on my PC?
?? sandra
like fsb speed, cache, bsb speed, processor type, if its dual core or not

sandra == Good diagnostic program www.sisoftware.co.uk
free?
yes
great
do you think an IBM server xseries 225 with xeon 2.8ghz, 133mhz fsb, 1.5gig ram, would be good enough to use as server for 5 employees, with exchange servier, and blackberry BES, and we use the harddrive on the server to store lots of files, like .xls .doc .pdf etc
for 5 employees?  yes
put the serveraid card in there, and saev some money and buy windows 2003 SBS
we have ibm serveraid 4lx controller
and right now we have windows 03 server media kit
MS windows 2003 server
MOL 6.0
we should upgrade to 2003 small business server
i guess thats what we will need to do for exchange
you'll spend more doing windows and exchange sepraately than you will just getting small business server
ya we r just getting SBS
700 each for excahnge and windows, and 70 bucks per license, one license for each
not separte
so this system should be OK?
because our consultant said we need a xeon with 800mhz front side bus
and 3.0ghz
im not sure i agree with him
consultants say lots of things.  yes, an 800mhz fsb xeon would be faster, but it's not worth the cost, particularly not for 5 users
now if you were tlaking 20-50 users, would definitely suggest the faster processor, or more likely, same 2.8ghz, but a dual processor system
spend spend spend!
heh, just spent 17k on our new ibm.  :)
i wonder if he have dual procssor
when i look in device manager
international booty machines, mmm
under "computer"
when i expand
it says ACPI multiprocessor PC
and then when i expand the "Processor"
part
whoa
it lists two xeon 2.8ghz
can you type more than one word per line
im sorry, .. i wont do that again..   so based on this.. is this dual processors? or just some kind of hyper threading
it could be 2 non-hyperthreading xeon processors, or one hyperthreading
or 2 hyperthreading xeon processors with HT turned off
open the case and look
how do i check to see if HT is turned on or off
im not at the PC now, im remotely connected
well easy way to tell is get the intel processor id utility
225, it's a single processor with hyperthreading
that will tell you if its htor not
or that
that'd be my guess anyway.  not that I have aa 225.  :)
i dont use ibm servers so i dont know
I have ibms for my DB servers, just not a 225.  sure I looked at 225, but I don't remmeber it
is this Xeon I have a P4 xeon… or just a xeon
id assume a p4
the reason i ask if because this idiot consultant kept telling me, "you need to upgrade to a xeon, you have a p4 now and its not good enough"  but my computer doesnt say p4 xeon anywhere just xeon
its a xeon then
look
get the processor id utility
i am now
!g intel processor id utility
Intel(R) Processor Frequency ID Uti @ http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/frequencyid/ || Intel® Processor Frequency ID Utili @ http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/frequencyid/sb/CS-007623.htm |
yeah its Xeon 2.8ghz 533mhz front side bus
so tell him that
with hyperthread.. yeah
512 cache… can cache be upgraded?
your consultant is an idiot
i agree
no, the cache is built in to the processor
i see… is it possible, just so i know, to upgrade the processor on this machine
i got a dual 3.2ghz/800mhz/1mb cache xeon machine here
Hedgie ask ibm that
