ping

hi … i'm using dast … looks great … there are some minor think to get started. Wanno know?

Hi, sorry the link for the deps was misspelled
ngnp:Or did you get it working…cool…tell me what you think

yeh .. but joe cool is not so cool … hard coded … took me x mins :-/ But i'm now at installed site. Wants to : http://dast/install.php?profile=default so wget srewed?
i think this is my tool to hug :-)

ngnp:What's hard-coded?

ext/MYSQL5-CREATE-DRUPAL-DB.sql contains : DRUPAL6, joe, cool
ping

ngnp:oh the SQL script…that's yours to change…use whatever username/pass and db name, and just update the properties file
ngnp, In dast-patch.properties set the drupal.database.url=mysql://yourname:yourpass@yourserver/yourdb with whatever you use in the MYSQL5-CREATE-DRUPAL script

did i missed someting from the docs?
i understand … maybe replace token applied to CREATE-DB

ngnp, http://groups.drupal.org/node/5124

3 IRC mentions

ngnp, Also README.txt has fairly detailed info

couldn't find info about ext/ dir so pressumed the sql host was paramd. Shall I make a patch to do that?

ngnp, you're right, I should have mentioned that you need to manually change the script. Sure, if you want to parameterize the script go right ahead, all help appreciated at this point
ngnp, but what wa the issue with wget?

i thing the ' autorun the Drupal installer to bootstrap' never made it.

seen Heine

Heine was last seen in #drupal 15 hours 12 min ago saying 'I've more news, pm?'.

ngnp, Hmm… Could you check the log - dast-patch-install-output.log
ngnp, It will be in the dir specified by build.log.defaultdir - on *nix the default is /var/log

wget recieved 943 bytes. But were?
pastebin?

Pastebin.com is back! Please don't paste code directly into IRC. Please use http://drupal.pastebin.co.uk/, http://www.pastebin.ca/ or http://pastebin.com

http://www.pastebin.ca/651032 (write permission) … and i cannot fit it. chmod 666 not helping

hi

ngnp, 666 is what rw for everyone?

y

yep … my laptop … so i don't see what's wrong now. Installed drupal many times… this is the first drupal web host 6 … could it be that?
how can i scratch my head. what irc sentence?

ngnp, try /me tugs on beard
python?

is there a module that takes care of image sizes? ie i specify the widht and the height and they are sesized proportionally?

imagecache and imagefield.

imce?

btu they're not magical.
you have to set 'em up properly.

is this the modula name? imce?

ngnp, but the $db_url is set correctly in settings.php…it would mean that the user running the script had rights to write to the file

It contains $db_url = 'mysql://joe:cool@localhost/DRUPAL6'; I must be :-[ something of my settings. Don't want to waste your time though.

ngnp, what OS on your laptop?

linux

is the mysql running ?
mysql

dsoundmn, me?

very good question … the database it gone :-! wtfk …
very good question … the database mysql or postgresql hosting it gone :-! wtfk …

dsoundmn, thanks

sorry - was afk for a sec - did that help ?

i don't understand … output from run 'mysql://joe:cool@localhost/DRUPAL6 is now available.'

yup i'm confused on that one too then

ngnp, dsoundmn, when the script creates the DB it does a query using the db_url to test that the db_url can be reached…

scripts running fine on mysql database services schema …

ngnp, so the db is up?

yes … it allready was. Doing a refresh the wrong was. Give me 20 mins :-)
byes … it allready was. Doing a refresh the wrong was. Give me 20 mins :-) /b

anyone here responsible for the handbooks on drupal.org?

a_m_c, a fe wyes
*few yes

alright, just wondering what "the pick up artist" is doing in "Installation and configuration"… is that some sort of wiki-system where everyone can post what they want or how did that get there?

a_m_c, can you provide a link please

it's listed here http://drupal.org/handbooks and here's the page http://drupal.org/node/165801

1 IRC mention

a_m_c, it's spam. deleted. Thanks for the report

aye, np

blocked and his other spam gone too

Michelle, you beat me to it

heh… holding baby… can't tpe much but can use mouse

our anti secure email hosting team is just too fast

anyone using swftools module and/or j. wijering flash player? getting a playlist to generate in the right folder but the module cant associate it with the player….

i wonder
could we setup druplicon to send notices here when items are flagged ?

support?

Please direct support questions to the volunteers in #drupal-support or on the Drupal forums. #drupal is a place to discuss and help with code, advocacy, documentation, infrastructure, and pretty much everything else.

a_m_c, btw, it's usually easier to say "spam + link", rather than ask. There's almost always someone in here that can deal with it

ajk^, alright, I'll do that next time, I didn't know it was a common occurrence

it's very common
we just deal with it as and when it arises

so anyone can post new pages to the handbook? no special privileges required?

registered users can. It's part of the way it works, otherwise how would we build a knowledge base if posting was restricted to "the few"
fortunatley more people write useful stuff than spam

i think it's in my hosts config combine with mysql server. I go make it all localhost.

well letting everyone post pages is a good thing of course, but wouldn't it be better if there were a moderation queue for promoting stuff to places like the handbook, or maybe even for just making it public

a_m_c, if the spam prob grows then maybe, but it's not that bad so until it is pref to allow registered users to post to it

alright, I guess that works

a_m_c, we just rely on users also being spotters, just like you

I'm just worried it might look bad with spam inside these kind of official or at least semi-official documents… it makes it look like drupal is leaky towards spam

spam usually lives less than one hour and any web app is leaky towars spam…

There used to be a moderation queue but it got lost in a version upgrade
Funny thing is there's a discussion on the list about opening things up _more_
bFunny thing is there's a discussion on the list about opening things up _more_/b

killes, sure, but I'm just saying that it looks bad, it doesn't matter whether drupal really is leaky or not, it's just the impression that it gives

I don't care about peope who get such impressions. :P

well we should even if everyone knows you shouldn't let these kind of things affect your judgement, subconsciously they do, so they are important, at least I believe so

a_m_c - We (well, other than killes care, but the benefit of anyone being able to help with the docs outweighs the problems with short lived spam at this point

Michelle, aye, I hear ya, it's not a big deal as long as it doesn't get out of hand

great tool / stupid user … i created a new hosts entry : dast … a2ensite dast did the trick.

Yeah, so far we manage to keep on top of the private and secure spam free hosting services pretty well

a_m_c, it hasn't yet got out of hand. The usual life span of spam on d.o is minutes (thx to people like you) who report in here (#drupal) and by the d.o webmaster's issue queue. But thx for your concern

does anyone know Todd Hoff (http://highscalability.com/, was dugg and down yesterday :-)

Heh, with that URL, that's ironic

ngnp, ok so you were able to download core + modules / install and patch successfully?

it was funny :-)
the story was about the scalability of digg.com, 10 minutes on digg and plop

Ouch
My site would roll over and die if it was ever dugg

didn't patch yet. But yes … i like DAST :-)
the prob was that site dast was not enabled in apache so it landed on my drupal/default which was not configed.
i meant drupall5 dev environment.

ngnp, 0.2 is going to have scripts for configuring Apache, MySQL and PHP

mmmh … no user? This is a little different then drupal5. Just created one.

ngnp, you mean the admin user?

yep … but then again this is drupal6 so i have to learn. Or should dast create user 1 automatic?
my prob is solved :-D . It's was apache conf :-/

anyone have an idea where in the database should i search for the content of a particular node?

Revisions table, I think

node_revisions?

http://api.drupal.org/api/5/function/node_revisions

ngnp, right now it only runs the installer to create the tables and such and then you take over to name the site and create the admin user and so on…
ngnp, but the .2 release will have a script that does the remaing stages

that fine.

I feel like an idiot for asking this, but is there any way to get full control over how my custom nodetype is rendered without defining my own callback? because, it might just be me being tired, but hook_view() doesn't seem to give you very much control over this

where can i read more about .2?
soory … home page dast

ngnp, project page still only for version 0.1 if you want to look at the code, check CVS
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/modules/DAST/src/tests/etc/tasks/ApacheHttpdConfTaskTest.xml?view=markup

thanks for your patience. I'll watch DAST

ngnp, yeah thanks for trying it out. I'll make the change to the script and docs you suggested

nice…
How can i help apart from that patch i proposed?

ngnp, right now the thing DAST needs most is advocacy, so far you're the first person I've gotten any feedback from, so if you can encourage anybody else to try it out that would be great
ngnp, It's a tool that has a huge number of uses

well … I go to froscon.de so …

ngnp, what dates is it?

i want to use dast for multi site installation. This looks better then sitemanager.module :-)
sept 25
oeps … august 25-26

ngnp, well from installation to patch-testing, to benchmarking different configs, unit-testing, it's got of potential. code-wise the 0.2 release should have the deisgn and API nailed down so if you're interested in writing scripts wait until 0.2
ngnp, it's going to be this week *crosses fingers*

0.2?

http://www.crazyapplerumors.com/?p=907 lol

hey all

hiya

how is it possible with drupal_get_path to get the path of the currently selected theme?
what should I put as $name?
or what other function should I call?

so, the question is really how to get the name of the current theme, right?

or the path of the current theme

path_to_theme()

drupal_get_path('theme','name of current theme') gets the path - just how to get that name…

path_to_theme()

global $theme?

path_to_theme() is only available in the template, no?

hey, nice

no

hm i could swear i tested that 10 minutes ago and it didn't work

then test again
if it does not work

I tried with base_path() . path_to_theme()

Drupal version?

5.2

nope
path_to_theme

ah indeed, no need for base_path, that's what broke it
thanks
putting lightbox integration in the asset module

Anyone know Ayman? That's the maintainer of the flatforum module… I'm just wondering if anything is going to happen with it. It works in 5 but there isn't a release which confuses people

question, how do i display more than one check box per-module in the Modules area? I want to do something similar to the even module, it adds 4 checkboxes instead of 1

it should also have a big notice that it doesn't work for Garland
it's in the readme but people don't tend to read it

readme?
whats that?

LOL

lolz
so does anyone know how to do this?

wmostrey - True, but it works for other themes. I'm just wondering if the maintainer is going to do anything more with it
And it woudl be nice to have an actual release for in update_status

i figured it would be obvious so i fed the event.module to bluefish, but im not seeing anything

who's gonna fix http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drupal?

bobsumbody - Add more checkboxes for what?

each module has exactly one checkbox

The event module doesn't have any more checkboxes that I can see

Michelle, you know how the event module displays 4 checkboxes in the modules area?

Just one for enabled

well I want to do three segments in one box for a brochure module

if a single director has multiple .module/.info files in it then each one will get a checkbox

well there has to be another way

Oh, I thought he meant adding more checkboxes than just enabled
No… That would be the way
One checkbox per module but you can have multiple modules per project

if you are talking about adding more checkboxes to the admin/build/modules page that is THE way to do it

look @ throttle modiule

if you are talking about adding more checkboxes to any page, yes, there are many ways to do that

yeah i know that :P
greggles, if you look at the event module it contains one info file
and it serves up 4 handy little check boxes
but i cannot find the actual text for these things anywhere in the source

which version of event?

Hey all

The event module has an info file for each of the modules
That's why it has more listed there

greggles, latest version, i got it about a week ago

There's event, event_views, event_allday

basic_event

Only 3 in the latest version, btw
That's not in the latest anymore

oh
i c

there are like 3 different latest versions - 5.x-1, HEAD, 4.7 - please be specific

5.x-1

also note http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/modules/event/contrib/?hideattic=0

Yeah, V1 still has basic event, so 4 for that

so, the event tar.gz file contains many .info files
what language is http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drupal? ?
Danish?

no idea

greggles, oh ok, i see it now, i didnt notice the child dir's in event, i was looking at a file list so I didnt see the folders
lol

it is supposed to be Danish. :p

im sitting hear WTF'ing my computer for nothing :P

Danish = denmark?
if so, morten will certainly do this if he knew that we needed it done

# Dansk

alright back to the code, thanks for the help guys
n gals

Danish is the language spoken in Denmark

kkaefer: great - I will mail morten.dk and ask him
or I will just ping mortendk here
ping!
didn't see you

i /think/ i found a bug in user_admin_account. pager_count is called with a NULL for the $query_count argument. because a join is made from user.uid = user_roles.uid, the count(*) is off because user_roles has a one to many uid to rid. patch for DRUPAL-5: http://drupal.pastebin.org/330
i wonder if that made any sense
haha

file an issue, please

how do i do that?

visit http://drupal.org/project/drupal and see "Report new bug"

cheers

cheers to you for finding it!

pooong

!

shall i submit my patch?

fix this please: http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drupal
please

ok

mark it as "patch (code needs review)"
also, it would help to describe 1) the exptected behavior 2) the observed behavior

goddammit oooookay then
just translate the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drupal to the language of the vikings ?

that would be brilliant

well everything for you my friend

and maybe slip in a link for "Morten.dk is the king of denmark" while you're at it
and it's not for me, of course, it's for Drupal and http://willy.boerland.com/myblog/9_8_2007_put_drupal_in_your_wikipedia

well that woudnt be a problem -are you going to bacelona

naturally I am!

oooh the English page lost {{advert}}
hats off

ooh yeah i saw that bert were going nutter by the wikipedia takeover

let's hope it stays that way

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drupal had an {{advert}} tag?

yes

will do

but now all references to sites using drupal is removed
so it's better

http://freshmeat.net/projects/drupal/ is still horribly out of date…

it was removed by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Andrew_Hampe
15 year old from wisconsin - with some wikipedia credibility, but not a ton - perhaps it will come back
is that your nephew

hmm hampe is a danish psudonym for pot / hemp / has / weed btw :P

It's a freakin' web site platform. You link to web sites made with it.

let's hope not
only to sites that have wikipedia pages
that's the policy.

ahh
that's strange.

what is the direct translation of hampe? or is there one?

like, say http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nowpublic :P

it adds/added a rel="noref" to external urls, you would think that enough..

hamp = weed

ah

smoke weed = hampe
well my language is kinda funny with the endings n time n stuff - ill give a crash course in barcelona

very good

it looks like he tagged it as an advert himself earlier as well..

ah, interesting

he tagged http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProFTPd as well

is that your nephew — Nope, no relation

what targets does phing support … docs fails a little

Hi
What EXACTLY are teasers?
I don't understand the explanation on the drupal.org site
?

a small text to be shown on a index page or article listing for instance to arouse interest
it can be a capitulation of the article, or just the beginning few sentinces

Ah
I see
A bit like the cutenews feature "Short story" and the full page is "Long Story" right?
hmm
ok

exactly

thanks :P
Okay
When I install a module
I need to put the .module file in a seperate folder right?
ok

be sure to also include the .info file
or else the module will not show up in the module list

sorry … there's a doc dir. I want to do use copy/filterchain/replacetokens any suggestion

Can views be nested?

I only have a README.TXT and LICENSE.TXT file, apart from the teaser.module file

did you download the drupal 5 version?

I sure hope so
:/
I'll download the 5 version and replace it then

it appears the teaser module is really out of date
nov 2006
it doesn't have a drupal 5 version
what exactly are you looking for?

the… teaser module

yeah but what functionality, since the teaser module is outdated

Er

you'll need to find another module

I dunno
Ok

:p

So is there a module for Short story/Long story?
similar
?

excerpt

drupal works with teasers (short stories) by default
http://drupal.org/project/excerpt works as well, indeed

money cck field is done see http://drupal.org/project/money

okay

congrats cck + lightbox integration is also almost done
I need to get the jscript working with fieldsets

lightbox integration? You mean asset + lightbox for images?

exactly

k
cool

with the inclusion of image galleries in lightbox
with the inclusion of http://www.oxxus.net/4images-hosting.htm">image galleries in lightbox

just wondering, why do you prefer lightbox over thickbox?
hey!

it's neclimdul's now

so that you can show 2 images on the node, but the lightbox can have all 10 images in the gallery
bso that you can show 2 images on the node, but the lightbox can have all 10 images in the gallery/b
it's actually CA that made that choice

heh, k

What does the lightbox do?

ehm?

questions for support

I've got the same question again ^^ What's the answer this time?

pong

i might also add thickbox, greybox and highslide integration, but that will be in my own time

neclimdul's

oh ok

he's taking it over

hows views_subscriptions?

ahhh
same question as chx here

didn't get to it last night, getting some things out of the way so I can start working on it
will be shortly

there, things now out of the way
:P

haha

hi everyone
I have a quick question, You see here my organisation , we installed the simplenews module
and now we are trying to disable it and wipe all traces of it out of our database
I deleted all the database tables, but the newsletters still exist
My Drupal install is Drupal 5.2

I hate to bother y'all — but I've got something that is blowing my mind so hard, and I'm not sure if it's a bug in Drupal (I doubt it), blog module (maybe?), or somehow a bug in … my theme? When I go to admin/build/block/list/cmlp (my custom theme) there's no $tabs and the title is set to "Sam Bayard's Blog." Something with menu is effed. When I _menu_get_active_trail, and menu_get_item each one, I see http://drupal.pastebin.com/d3369ecf4

support?

Please direct support questions to the volunteers in #drupal-support or on the drupal forums. #drupal is a place to discuss and help with code, advocacy, documentation, infrastructure, and pretty much everything else.

was that to me, too?

likely not as you are coding
and not for dear life I will go debugging someone's else menu setup
*someone else's
if you find such a daring soul, congratulations

understood; I just have no idea how that admin menu ended up buried somewhere in primary links; thanks tho

a little hint. I have rewritten the menu system from ground up for Drupal 6 because noone around seemed to be able / willing to fix inherent problems with the old menu.
it's a very scary place where we prefer not go to.

lol well then I'm quite appreciative for D6
looks like I'll be rolling up my sleeves

yes

variable_set?

this is the only advice I can give you.

Can someone give me an example of creating a patch for multiple files in multiple directories that would get executed from the root Drupal directory…I've never made a patch like that.

foo.patch

Don't you have to diff against something?

you diff agains . (which is the current dir)

rdwest came back

So that diffs the current root directory against the old patch?
Or I'm I just missing something…

against the old patch? dunno what that shall mean

Oh, jeebus. I reallly confused.

it diffs your current working copy with all changes against cvs

Ah.
What if I was dumb enough not to check out that way?

which way did you check out?

I just downloaded a tarbar and went for it.
http checkout.

that makes it much harder

awesome.

that won't work.

sweet

do the following:
checkout drupal from cvs, copy your current, changed working copy over the cvs checkout, and create the diff with the command I just gave you
that should work

Very smart - thanks.

good morning everyone

Has anyone here successfully implemented drupal_execute()? I'm having trouble making it work and is driving me crazy…

pasebin your code

global $user;
$node = array('type'='custom_poll');
$values = array();
$values['name'] = $user-name;
$values['field_musician_value'][0]['value']=$form_values['musician'];
$values['field_song_value'][0]['value'] =$form_values['song'];
$values['title']='song name';
$values['status']=1;

drupal_execute('custom_poll_node_form', $values, $node);
I'm using cck fields, btw
only title is saved and cck fields are not saved.

paste_bin_: not paste

sorry, dunno what 'paste_bin_' is.

pastebin?

Pastebin.com is back! Please don't paste code directly into IRC. Please use http://drupal.pastebin.co.uk/, http://www.pastebin.ca/ or http://pastebin.com

thanks

what kind of cck fields are these?
select, checkbox?

it's just a normal textbox
to be precise, it's a text field, 1 row, required, plain text. no maximum length. no value is disallowed

i found that we have cache-install.inc, to serve during installation. is it also possible to make variable_get/set become usable during installation?

hi
how do i output one of those cute red warning messages at the top of a page?

drupal_set_message?

ok cool thx

put 'error' in the type arg to make it red

ok thx

Anyone know how to run apache ab as a logged in user?
Or if it's even possible.

I seem to recall it had an argument to pass a session ID.
But I'm not really sure. I've only ever tested it as anon.
wget does for sure, if nothing else.

hm. Thanks. Makes sense.

It's pretty amazing. I leave and almost every mailing list I watch closely explodes with activity.

lol

ab has a -C attribute for setting the cookie

interrresting.

yeah, use that

ab -C 'PHPSESSID=ab234adks8….'
or whatever your site's cookie name is

Study finds that the 'baby einstein' stuff not only doesn't help make your kids smarter, it hurts their development! (Shocker) http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1650352,00.html

well, the "PHPSESSID" part is not neccessarityl right

LOL
are you serious?!

I said that

that's very interesting.
We have a nephew whose mother was crazy about giving him those videos.'
And his speech is VERY under-developed.

true, sorry

You can tell that he's smart as a whip (the kid's playing GBA and beating Super Mario Bros. at 3 years old), but he has extreme difficulty in speaking.

I mean, are therey *really* people who believe that putting a toddler in front of a tv will make him or her smarter?

well, they'll probably put the kid there anywa and are glad to have an excuse. |-/

Yea. So my surrogate nephew here is 2 and a half years old. He can speak complete sentences and short paragraphs. he has a huge vocabulary (for a 2 year old). And he gets about an hour of TV a week. Now, I'm going to credit genetics at least some — his parents are both really really smart people — but they're also extremely active with him, which I think is the most important part.

This article seems to be saying something slightly different though; and just putting babies in front of TV in general is not a good idea.

….

My son never liked baby einstein… Too slow

no, looks like it got it all.

Yes. The sad part about babies & TV is that psychologists have been saying this for years. TV has a detrimental effect on development.

and yeah, that's a good point.
"This growing evidence led the Academy to issue its recommendation in 1999 that no child under two years old watch any television." — wow!

Mine watches way too much TV. I swore he wouldn't watch any but I got lazy

yea, it's really seductive to use the TV that way.
I think I have an advantage; I watch a LOT less TV than I used to.
And i've long refused to have a TV anywhere but in the TV-watching-room.
So. We'll see how well I hold out.

Mine actually shuts the TV off, now, though. He's getting himself unaddicted somehow. LOL

Wow. Good for him!

Though he's watching PBS right now while I"m nursing Josh

I think that an active parent is the key there.

Yeah, I think that's part of the problem. I'm not in good enough shape to be really active

Mentally active

Oh, that way. I was thinking more physical. If I could get out and run around with him more we'd use the TV less
I'm just so tired allthe time it's easier to say go watch tv

There's always books.

I read to him when he lets me… He goes through phases with that

It's true, and that certainly would help, but you also use the tools you have. is this something his dad can do instead of you?

Yeah, his dad is a bit more able to actively play
Winter is the real problem. During the summer, we are usually gone a big chunk of the day so no TV then
Being lazy today… It poured this morning so the parks are all wet so we're just hanging otu at home

hmm, I remember that I have not been allowed watching TV but sunday morning from 8 to 10 am
until I was like six or seven

drupal_add_js?

http://api.drupal.org/api/5/function/drupal_add_js

My plan was no TV until 2 years old at least but, well, that didn't happen
I didn't park him in front of it as a baby, though
I think he was at least a year before he really got any significant tv
I still remember him being about 4 months old and he kept trying to turn and see the TV and I kept turning him away. LOL
Hubby is a TV addict, so no TV on in the house will never happen… Best I can do is keep the kids occupied with other things
Ok, I guess everyone else is done talking about this… Shutting up now

Nah I got distracted by said baby
It sounds like you've been more successful than you give yourself credit for

Hey so, I'm about to release tinderbox source code as a new open source project, Affero GPL v3

Mine is on my lap nursing, so computer time for me

What VCS do you guys like
SVN/CVS/Git/etc ?

svn

TV is a guilt button for me, I think… I tend to alternate justifying it and beating myself up whenever the topic comes up

Anyone second the motion?

but that's really a personal flavor
basically you can use any vcs

Yeah, I like SVN too personally
But, this Git/other distributes VC stuff sounds interesting too
SVN it is

I kinda like monotone

Hmm, I can use the CIA tool thing to track source
Which is good, since I don't have alot of time to manage this project, but I *KNOW* there are 50+ projects that'd give their right arm for it

your tinderboy stuff isn#t a Drupal module, is it?

no
I don't think it would be good for it to be one, it would probably limit it

so…what eclipse php environment are people liking these days
when I last checked there were like 3 of them

Ijust asked becasue of license complications. :p

what is the best way to manage css, js and html content when dev-ing a module?
hi … still testing eclipse?

I've used it before and want it back
but just installed ubuntu and am unsure the best eclipse now

it's called "Komodo"
:P

I tried komodo and _hated_ it

why

i installed feisty and then the package eclipse … then installed pde

don't remember - I think just buggy
general bugginess - keyboard shortcuts not working or not existing

pde?
not pdt?

typo … pdt as an find and install upgrade/update

if you have the "comment submit" problem again, please record the headers

hmmm i do not see eclipse-pdt in the package list.

I have it on issues as well now
I will record headers this time

anyone for .. how to manage css, html and js?

your question is too broad
"manage" doesn't mean anything to me
I "manage" my css in svn

eclipse is slow on ubuntu. I hate that so switch to vim :-)

I "manage" my css by getting a designer to do it for me
etc.

http://downloads.zend.com/pdt/all-in-one/1.0/

ok .. when including css i have to remove the style tag, same goes for js. And i hate that.

Yeah, well
there are none really, I could use GPL3 without any issue

ngnp, I suggest looking at how other modules define theme_* functions and how they use drupal_add_css / drupal_add_js

"or, at your option, any higher version" (paraphrase)

so they final made it to 1.0 … is that usable then?

they are 1.0 betas
look at the oriignal pdt page

well, now the problem is gone
I'll leave headers recording for a while and see if it happens again
I mean, it's gone! =D

ping

ack

well, we didn't make any change.

interesting…I'll keep an eye out
?

I'm looking at pathauto 5–2. It does not seem to have an option to strip punctuation (e.g. "?") which then ends up in the URL as %nn. Is the i18n-ascii file the solution for this?

there is no solution for that currently

Okay.

pardon me…

No worries. :-)

if you enable transliteration (even if you have a blank i18n-ascii.txt) then it will strip out everything but A-z0-9

it's about the location within the module. There is no standard way. css are in the root om module … js are sometimes in js/ .. going to do that then :-/

so, that's the "solution"

That actually will work perfectly, thanks!

the ultimate solution is a separate settings page with every "punctuation" character as a list and then a set of radio buttons with "leave alone, replace with separator, remove"
but I dread writing that
for no good reason

Well, it could also be like the list of words to remove but it will require different regexp handling.
"\b?\b" is not a useful regexp :-)

you can't have two word breaks in a row

got a repeat of the bug

Exactly. You also can have \b? at all, it's illegal. That's why you can't put "?" in the list of words to remove.
s/can have/can't have/

oh.

I lay on the floor when I read that

ah yes
my ad filtering went berserk.
"you are tool" ?

that spell volumes

lol
Ah well. His intentions were good.
Just… really needs to do some research before he speaks.

not to mention that all these script kiddies who buy two 8800Ultra cards and a quad core proc and then say 'i have a world class record in desktop 3D'
have never even been close to that

"I'm a world class record holder in desktop 3D Benchmarking scores."

fresh block cache patch for head, and really interesting/frustrating findings: http://drupal.org/node/80951

Drupal, base system, normal, patch (code needs review), 17 IRC mentions

Apparently nothing other than other types of caching can improve on 'normal caching' benchmarks, not even .js aggregation .css aggregation, etc and…
….for logged in users

heh..thanks. Made the morning a little more interesting

there can benchmarked improvements noticed from any kind of caching or aggregation.

logged in users don't get caching.

can be NO benchmarked improvements that is

caching is for anon users.

Apparently they don't pick up any benefit from aggregation either.
It's nuts for the blockcaching at least not to offer logged in user caching.

Who is behind chx's amazingly cool fan-site? SPAM: http://chxcannotbedistracted.com/chx-as-a-jedi#comments

I don't understand it. Aggregation seems to useless all the way around in terms of benchmarking at least. Hopefully there is some other benefit?
We cache menu items for logged in users sometimes, right. It seems like selective ability to cache other things would be good. At the moment I guess menu caching is the *only* performance enhancement one can do with authenticated users. I never completely realized.

The aggregation cuts down on HTTP requests.
And yes, we cache menu items.
There is a block cache module.
But core's "Page caching" is for anon users only.
I believe there might be a module out there that caches certain parts of the page, but I could also be making that up.

Yeah, I guess at the strained limits of a server the request would matter. With casual testing though, those reduced requests didn't equal better benchmarks.

No, they wouldn't from ab.

I'm a block cache module zealot.

It cuts down on the open requests Apache has to serve, afair.
You could always check the original issues to learn the rationale for those patches.

I'd love to see some of the abilities of that module, as it pertains to logged in users, to be transferred to the block cache api. Otherwise there doesn't seem to be much of a point.

Please code it.
A lot of people want to see D6 with better caching, bt we're running out of time.

I will, but there has to be buy in. My latest comment and patch on the thread should hopefully spark such a request from upon high.

I think there's a core patch somewhere where this was started.
eh. up to you. I tend to code first, get buy-in later. it's much easier to get buy-in when you have something working (even if just a prototype) than if throwing out ideas/conceptual stuff. It's easy to get into bikeshed discussions about conceptual stuff. People looking at actual code and going, "Oh, we could actually optimize this here, here and here" is much much better.

Yeah, true. But there's a bit of history and discussion that pre-dates my participation. I think the whole issue really need some guidance from above at this point. Dries seems to have specific ideas.

ajk^: pm?

did you make image_import?

do anyone know how to redefine and override existing function?

that was drewish

ahh ok, well it totally kicks ass

as does drewish

well it just imported like… nearly 3000 images for me

Forgive me if this comes off as a bit newbish, but has there been any discussion about assigning unique IDs to each unordered list in menu trees (via item parent ids, for example)?

I got a funny issue here, I have a hook_menu working that has no 'access' rules and callback to a function, when I get to the link I get a access denied.. any reason?

My designer wants to style menu items differently, depending upon where they lie within the menu hierarchy. ….
My temporary solution (Drupal 5) was to hack the menu tree (ex http://drupal.org/node/138656) and explicitly set my own classes on list items.
http://harvestchoice.cs.umn.edu/about/people/project_team

1 IRC mention

I was thinking it would be nice to simply have somthing like http://pastebin.com/d18b5c4dd
for each sucessive level in the menu
Anyway, does this sound reasonably accomplishable/desirable?

I purposefully made a request to drupalX.drupal.org/ one of the times and got a 403
just in case that had something to do with it
I also opened up new tabs a couple times to refresh it
and did "ctrl+F5" to fully refresh

down?

Yes, it's possible that drupal.org is down, but be assured that Druplicon is fighting to get it back online! You can help out by donating: http://association.drupal.org/donate and when it comes back read http://drupal.org/node/163216

Whenever I forward something on the Drupal website to my client, the server goes down.
They check it out, and the site is down. They arn't really happy with this.
Really quite ironic.

So you're saying that you're making the site go down by forwarding to your client, then?

guys, after all that effort, the drupal.org is again offline?

So, you're the responsible party.
I think your client left the site, it's back up

save the page locally and send the HTML
or take a screenshot

lol, yeah.
No, it just seems that whenever I forward them something on Drupal.org, the server goes down.

I was teasing

can I have commit on util module

sore
*sure

I'd like to commit my "node type check function"

cool
done

heh, I already have commit on that… hmmmm

Ah well, I see my menu id q wasn't terribly exciting - I supose I can post it to the Menu Tree features request list

can you describe "the server was down" somehow?

did I mention that I'm a world class record holder in desktop 3D Benchmarking scores?

wow

Server load, apparently. On groups.drupal.org.

what does that mean?

joke

the server, the server, the server's on fire

see infra

not sure, really.

we don't need no water let the m*therf*cker burn!

what message did you get?
"server load" isn't a message.

where?

http://groups.drupal.org/nodes-down.html

see "Gentoo Optimizations ? "

A quite amazing response from narayan

I need to force test to be inserted in each page
How would I best do that?
Not from a GUI side
but forcing it via .htaccess or something

"lso includes some scripts for quickly generating lots of nodes and taxonomy terms."

any of you had a dude mailing them recently asking to optimize his drupal site

That was the message

that would be door number two, we have a deadlock on db2 and I took it out of rotation 10 seconds too late

Oh, I forgot we have 2 (3?) now.

I think we have been getting some iowait on that server, I took it out of rotation and upped the buffers a bit, it keeps handling very high load poorly

It was 2 indeed "database server is drupaldb2.osuosl.org."

ic, thanks

I'm not a professional webdev.
I'm glad to be "average"

this is the only issue
i'll post on the other room

yes

Is there a mymodulename_view hook? Or an API?

ping dopry_

How does it work?

hook_views_default_views
you provide an array of views
in the same format as the export

Hmm, dmitrig01 how would i consider the length of the post that's been created?
Or the "node" :P

you can create a view, export it, and stick it in there

excellent

9 IRC mentions

I had no idea that hook existed (hook_views_default_views). That's a really cool one!

I can change the input format

you wait four seconds for me to change the … or Heine.

when you say 'hook_views_default_views' is it exactly that, or is it 'mymodule_views_default_views'?

mymodule_views_default_views.

hook_something = replace hook with your module name

"hook" is always synonymous with "mymodule_"something.

like mymodule_views_default_views

So hook_nodeapi means module_name_nodeapi

Hmm, where's db_query actually stored? I'm looking in database.mysql.inc, when i search for db_query i just see _db_query, the helper function

Heine, hope you didn't mind the "/edit" on that issue?

My default views hook is not working… any idea what might be causing it?
http://www.pastebin.ca/651634

ajk^: no, silly of me to not have thought of it.

That's in mymodule.module

have you enabled the view?
what's happening?

It doesn't show up on the list. So I can't enable it.

oh
hmm
what's the name of the module?

'categories'
Not every original i know

k
is the module enabled?

yes

Heine, I'll try and get some done tomorrow in a slither of spare time but I'm then away till Mon. If there's any left after the weekend I'll try do them next tweek

hmm

Heine, also, the php syntax filter fully working on the new input filter?

two things. one is clear the views cache everytime you make code changes (admin/build/views/tools I think)
The other is don't forget to return $views; but you are, so that's not the problem.
ajk^: oh. no it's not. One sec.

I was worried that maybe the problem was in the custom argument handling code
So I converted that into heredoc notation
And now my whole site's FUBAR'd

ctrl+z

so after clearing the views cache, you don't see your view listed @ admin/build/views?

So I guess that wasn't the problem

That's the only effect that hook_default_views has.

One sec, let me try that
(Have to get my site working again first)
Ahh! That did it
Just had to clear the cache
Thanks again webchick
and you too dmitrig01

np

Hmm, if i'm making a SQL query and i want to find out the table prefix, then how do i do that?
I know you bracket it, but with what phrase?
{prefix} ?

Drupal handles adding the prefix for you

So, when i'm using db_query; how do i have it do that, then
Specifically when the module i'm making has it's own table

db_query("SELECT field FROM {table} WHERE field1 = '%s', $field1);

And, how do i define the module's own table?

or db_query("SELECT n.nid FROM {node} n INNER JOIN {my_table} m ON n.nid = m.nid WHERE …");

_userext

see hook_install
hook_install?

http://api.drupal.org/api/5/function/hook_install

It's okay, i'm on api.drupal.org
Ah, i see

if you create a hook_install in my_module.install you can call db_query with CREATE TABLE {mytable} () statements.

So when i create the table, then i encapsulate with my own table name
Then, it just appends that automatically

yes

CREATE TABLE {useropts} or whatever
Excellent

best to use the modulename as namespace (module_table or so)

I am
useropts is the module name :P

Hey, sorry about before
Oh, i've just finished the user rankings thing
So far it's only a beta but the users can acutally do more than on IPB/vB etc — you can post a user a text comment, add karma or give them astar rating based upon the content they've posted

what's only a beta?

The thing i'm making for DruBB
It's for the forum.module extensions, you can click a user's post they've made on a forum and give them a good rating for it or whatever, and also give them karma and stuff

oh
without modding core?

Yep

cool!

Then if you click someone's profile it has posting rating stats there too
And a feedback style thing there with public comments (in case they're nasty people who troll )

I have a cck field. In its hook_widget(op='validate'), I just say form_set_error(null, "Error");. This form error never actually displays or has any effect. If I call drupal_set_message("Blah", 'error'), however it does work as I expect.
What am I doing wrong here?

Err, Galaxor from looking at the code of form_set_error — if you do not set
err
If you set it as null, isset returns FALSE and drupal_set_message doesn't return anything
So if you set it as something like "error"
Maybe it'll work

http://pastebin.com/d8a3f95f Some code I have in a calendar view header seems to break when the calendar has no nodes in it and rather than reading it as php it displays the code. I'm no sure why though. Any ideas?

I asked this yesterday, but had to leave before I could get an answer, is there a drupal function that forces a database flush?
I didn't see one on a.d.o, but I might have not been using the correct terms.

pong.

a friend asked me there is a RSS standard that woulddeliver all content generated on a site…

no, there's no named standard or guidelines. but just generate an rss feed that contains all your posts, and that'd satisfy the need just fine.

well, that won't help if it isn't my site. :P

oh, you want to /get/ that from a site you don't control?
yeah, there's no way to do it, unless the site offers it.
i could write your friend a scraper.

I guess he could do that himself. :p

drewish, pong

this is switching between workspace type cube?

I have a 7600GS and while that card is not the fastest by there is, but a desktop should run *really* fast.
yes, this cube is switching between workspaces

Hurray, i've finished that now
You can add user ranks that also have sub ranks too, and that have prerequisites (by role, group, other ranks, number of posts)

is there a module (for 5.x) that adds a notification bar for all users when a new message (with some criteria) has been posted? something like the notice you get when you change some settings (:

Hmm, how would i throw up an error onto watchdog?

I'm not sure what to look for, and noti* does not give me any candidates

I can add it if you want :O

I'm working on the privmessaging after i've done this

it shouldn't be too hard, which is why I though it probably already exists

you can use AJAX

ok

lol as soon as i added it in, someone who uses the test drupal i develop on has added;

Hmm, oops.
Need to use the node title, not the node name .

line 72?

the only line that hard codes which fields are in color.module

call it a bug in the issue and nag Seven ;-)
