AFAIK wireless support on Gentoo disks is minimal at best, you should try other live/rescue disks and hope that you find one that supports your card..
or boot into a working system and burn ndiswrapper to another CD

You can't run KDE from the LiveCD, but you can install it from the CD (v3.5.5 - see http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/releng/release/2007.0/2007.0-press-release.txt)
that's quite strange, i would suggest a dmesg | grep eth0 and see what pops up if anything

Hello, i'm having the worst of luck with xorg-x11. After a blistering 6 hours of downloading and installing the packages, my xorg installation has finished. I didn't do anything, and it wouldn't run. So I decided to completely follow through with the instructions on installing the nvidia
proprietary drivers, which likewise didn't work
oliv3r, did you create your xorg.conf with Xorg -configure
'didn't work' isn't good enough

if they already exist… don't create new ones!

was there an error message? at what point did you conclude that it doesn't work?

hi ppls. I have folloed Photoshop#gimpshop tutorial on gentoo-wiki, but when i trye to emerge it after following steps, i get error from portage stating its no ebuilds satisfying "gimpshop". What should i do, thanks for your time.
oliv3r, the probed config will work in most cases but now that you mention it ati is the execption
vgscan, then vgs and lvs to list volumes

ali3nx, well it works without the ati driver, but i need the ati driver cause i only got a tv as monitor, so i need the xorg.conf for aticonfig
anilomkar, did you change your CHOST variable in make.conf at any time after install?

chjunior, not required with built in alsa… just use modules for alsa if you go with in kernel style and then setup alsa-utils
I'm presuming the latest available when I do emerge nvidia-drivers but i'll get the exact version
are you using a stock gentoo-linux kernel?

have any of you installed pidgin? i installed it with no errors but it doesn't look like it installed an executable gui

ali3nx, ok the probing gives me a sig11, i'll try unloading the fglrx module and such so that it can run/detect with the radeon driver, which seems to work, as i can ctrl-alt-backspace out of the garbled boot
it sounds like your kernel doesn't have i2c support compiled in (or maybe you need to the load the module for it)?
i used gtk, tcl and tk use flags… so wtf?
yes, the one for amd64 with the patches and such
using the latest ~amd64 Pidgin with no problems

that web page was helpful, but my problem is this: the VGs and LVs already exist, and show up in vgs/lvs. the problem is, there are no nodes in /dev
